For news traders, how many pips do you guys normally get for trading trade balance?

Morning Zarul,

Presumably you refer to the Yankee's Trade balance:

US Trade balance in Dec 06 produced 30 pips, Jan 07 produced 25 pips.

No, I am not against the market, it was on the right movement, something that was predicted, but I am against my own stupidity, I always got issue during news time...

But are you guys seeing Cable dropping even with USD-negative news (as forecast) ?

cesarnc, many of the news source predicted a strong down movement whatever the trade balance gonna be..

Personally NO i dont see cable dropping if US news is bad - if bad Cable should go back to 9500 - 9520

January 07 was basically smooth - just a 6 pip bump in the final minute prior to the release. It's the gap you need to watch. See attached charts for IBFX and FxSol from US Trade December 06 announcement.

Wanted to find out what you guys think, will the Trade balance USD $ negative result? Is it o.k to go long on EURO/USD or GBP/USD just seconds from release ?

Nobody will know for sure until the release of the US TB but I am still thinking it will be good for the dollar. I have been SHORT since 1.9473 with my S/L moved up for a positive profit just in case I am wrong. I still feel as though she MAY drop to the 1.9300 level. We shall see at 8:30 AM EST. Good luck all!

I'm sticking with my short from 1.9527, hopefully if its USD negative it wont retrace much since the trend is down.

Today's down move wasn't a "dollar stronger" move. Actually dollar is weaker on Euro and Yen pairs.

If US market remains absent today as has been lately, ir is possible to see a panic-driven move up then all the pair may resume they trend.

Notably, as Cable dropped 100 pip, Euro soared 80+...

I'll be watching on possible resumption of the down trend only (below 9400)

Interesting price movement at the moment. Cynics might suggest that major players throwing a few curved balls by minor cable buys and then gradually selling back to give false up trend indication.
Only my 2ps worth...
