It's a public holiday in Japan today so the Japanese market is closed. As it is the biggest one in Asia, the rest of the markets in the region just can't do anything big. Besides everybody is holding back ammunition until the FOMC announcement and a slew of other economic news from the US. So my guess is that things will pick up a bit when London session starts later, but the real directional move will come tomorrow.

Wow, little did I know that today is public holiday..No wonder markets are moving painfully slow..
Any thought on the incoming FOMC interest rate decision?

Market Focus: (10:00 PM GMT +8 - Malaysia Time) Consumer Confidence.
Daily Strategy: The dollar consolidates at the current levels ahead the key FOMC meeting. It is expecting the Fed to cut the interest rates between 25 and 50 bps. Some analyzers predict last Fed interest rates cut. Still the bottom is not reached and the dollar will remain under pressure. But the traders already generate the expecting Fed decision. It is possible to see recovery of the dollar in near-term. For today we recommend trading within the trading range. The key US Consumer Confidence probably will fell again this month that will be new negative signal for the US economy.

That's what the forecast said yesterday also - that the pair would go up, but so far it has not worked out that way. It's largely directionless in very tight range. I just don't know how much of the US consumer confidence and interest rate cut have been figured into the price so there are a lot of unknowns. It's almost impossible to predict what might happen after these numbers come out.
