I'm still sort of a newbie, so I thought I may ask a question regarding Fibs. I've actually been wondering for some time.

I've seen a few call for a rise to 1.9820. I have that as the 61.8% retrace from Friday's high to low. For those experienced traders, is the 61.8% retrace more common that 38.2% or 50%? Does it make a difference if there is a downtrend vs. uptrend? Does it hit one, then resume and retrace again?

I guess I'm just curious to know if one Fib is more likely to become support/resistance over another depending on the current situation.

Any insight is helpful. Thanks.

On my chart I have the 50% at 1.9782 and it has bounced down off of it 3 times now (on the 15min chart). I also have 50% fib at 1.9950 from Dec 11 to Jan 21 decline (on the daily chart). Cable moved down from there on about Jan 29th. This leads me to believe that we are in a down trend and should see price drop with resistance at the 38.2% fib of 1.9805.

Does anyone else see the same?

hehe.. i was doing that magic yesterday, and it went up..
today i am accumulating the magic power .. well at the moment i see GBP?USD to fall down towards 1.9680 levels..

i wonder where the cable goes to....

My analysis tells me that we will start to see the pricing in of an interest
rate cut from GBP this coming Thursday. So I am looking for the G/U to
head south to 9550 / 9580 area between now and statement time on Thurs.

This is not to say it won't go up some (max. 9850) before heading there, but
I am setting my sites at slightly below 9600 over the next few days. Rate cut
could send it down as far as 9500 / 9450 - then back up to 9600 by Friday
close

Keep in mind that is only my view and I have been wrong before. I have
only a small sell (.5 lot) in at this time from about 9750 - will add more as I
see better confirmation on my view.

Then again this (more then likely) rate cut from GBP may already be priced in.
