We shall see, I think it is still going to make a move down another 200 pips, so long right now would not be the best time.

That it might do - as part of the choppy action. There ois no short-term uptrend yet, so it is too early for the long entries. But any long entry now should be closable with profit tomorrow

i am long, but remember this a probability game.
if it drops 200 pips, i am still winning great interests thanks to bernanke today rate cut. then 200 pips down i would meassure the market and if good i take a long with bigger lots.
like i did when boe cut rates, hot money, yummm, after this i will buy my zune for christmas


what we have now in my opinion is a carry trade unwinding not an strengtening dollar.
i think the best indicator right now is eu, not commodity currencies.

GBP and EUR fell today because the 0.25% rate cut had already been priced in before the announcement. Speculative play takes play prior to the event - and if the prediction was correct, retracement happens immediately - just like with the GBP rate announcement earlier.
Soon the market will see that everything's cheap again - and north we go

Statements are good for scalping in the next few hours. Weakening US economy and long-term dollar decline, however, are the reality factors no statements can change.
The GBP/USD up-trend didnot change when carry trades unwound like crazy in August - why do you expect some statement to affect it?
