They don't have half the money or military power to mess with this kind of thing. Apart from all the expenses a war brings, just think about the massive terrorist attacks Europe would have to endure. Can you picture a scenario like that ?!?! Dollar and yen to the stratosphere.

I'm just saying that the conditions in UK is probably worse than what is happening in the US. I just dont understand why people are blindly labeling dollar as dead.

Exactly my point, the dollar is at some multi year lows and we all know the new traders are the ones that come out screaming the loudest about the obvious at the end of the trend. Doesnt anyone feel that the risk to reversal is very high here?

no,...i dont think so, i think the growth is still beyond the inflation concerns...o yee, the market needs to see those troops safely at home, before he will price that in the market, even if it is already priced in aprox 90%...so if u wona see my view, i think they will raise them, and the market will interpret them as a dollar bearish, since those bilions will be expected,..thats it...dont u think that?...there u go, 1 milion views, same market.

Euro and Yen account for some 70% of the dolalr index, if I recall it right.

On euro side, Trichet has made it clear that tightening is not over; rates on hold due to financial crisis; financial crisis a problem for "our colleagues in the other side of the Atlantique"; "we know where we are going to"

As the result, euro is high showing downside contained so far (correction surely possible, but a reversal not likely)

On Yen side, dollar is only getting stronger via carry trades. And even with some sharp recovery in the stock market after August's selloff, carry trades are still way below any figure that could be labelled "high level"... So this is still an incognito to me.

Overall, I would stick with dollar bearish trend for a good while yet.

Hey my friend...I did a quick google search and found out that "Iran as an Arab nation" is still open for debate. So I guess calling the Iranians Arabs can't be taken as a lack of accuracy. Correct me if I'm wrong

I feel sorry for you guys:

Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Coffee rose in New York to the highest price since December on speculation dryness in the main growing areas in Brazil, the world's biggest producer, may hinder the flowering process for the crop to be picked in 2008.

Trading tomorrow without a good hit of cafein will be devastating... I'm just praying for tobacco not to spike 'til then

I wont argue with Euro as currently there is still no sign of Euro bearishness yet, but it might all change tomorrow, as we are in a very critical point in both the Euro and Dollar index charts. Sure Euro might propel up into 1.3950+ territory but it might not last long.
The most important thing when it comes to the dollar is that it's all politics.

All right I wont argue anymore in this thread, we're here to make money, not argue who is right or wrong, the one that earns money is right, the one that gets slaughtered is wrong, the market is that direct.

Just what I believe and what my technicals tell me, that 2.0652 peak and last week's 2.0365 high on Sterling is probably the highest point from now till the end of this year. Sterling according to me, has already started the big bear trend.

There will be a cut no doubt, but how it affects the markets would be another thing. As I said, I would not be surprised if a cut actually makes the dollar rally. But maybe that is just me.

Hi pinchapip,

Iran is most definitely not an Arab nation because Iran is simply Persia - they speak Persian and although they look similar to Arabs, they are very distinct racially and are not part of the Arab League (the formal divisor between Arab and non-Arab nations). Notice that racial origin is not that important (Sudan which is non-semitic is considered Arab). It's all about the language. Otherwise, the only Arabs would be on the Arabian Peninsula - and indeed that's how some other Arabs define it
