NZDUSD just bounced off daily pivot, might be an opportunity here, since it didn't react very strongly to the treasury move

The Sterling Pound is showing weakness across the board, at least from a shorter point of view:

  1. GBPUSD broke the uptrend on the 4H chart
  2. GBPAUD broke the 2.4000
  3. GBPNZD broke 2.8250
  4. GBPCAD breaking long tern support 2.0840

However, today is friday and after such an uni-directional week I would not be surprised to see some profit takings to the upside.

Northern Rock is the UK's fourth largest mortgage lender and they are on their knees- share price has gone from 1247 a year ago to 504 as I write and I came out of my short on them at 481 an hour ago - most of the drop is today !
Govt says NR is the 'only' bank to ask for emergency assistance..

What they mean is that NR is 'THE FIRST BANK' to ask for emergency assistance

Govt doesn't smooth my nerves and I bet a lot of pros in London are not fooled either...

I am panicking and I don't even own shares !

If I was a yankee I would sell every last penny of GBP before the bank goes bust. Talk about r/r ratio ! so what if you get 1% more interest ?

I just looked up my bank's much vaunted compensation scheme and it would keep me in gin for a year but that's about it...

It's 75 % of the first 20k... gimme some gold !

I dont think we are in a panic yet, it will probly wipsaw up and down like its going to panic and then BAMM, turn around and go the other way.
This kind of range until tuesday.

Why does NR ask for emergency funds?? were they exposed to american subprime??

You would think thats the right way round with you owing them money- but they will hike to try and get out of their pit.

my wad is deposited with the B&B and they are in the same mortage game - I am worried - no really I am - I need to diversify and to heck with chasing the top interest rate in this scenario.

Cable ? I would believe 0300 or 0000 today - anything. That means that mr cable being a contrarian pig will probably stand still. So I will.
