G/M, a 3rd consecuticve bearish dly candle y/day, and a downside follow-thru so far today. Price @ the CDL is very close to the CWL, and LWL is below that @ 3401

...demand emerges just a pip or so shy of the 3413 CWL in the pot supp zone (s) down to it, the zone being coexistent/overlapping with the one that extends down to LWL 3401. Bullish div in the 1min-2hr osc's were pointing to bears becoming exhausted, at that point. Price is back in a congested pot sbr area on 1hr, at the current upside p/back hi.

...must have been buyers' remorse re Monday's big move up? Whatever price @ the CDL came within a pip or two of the CWL set on that day. Stops will be under it, but more likely more under 3401 LWL?

GU dipped to 1.3414 on the previous move. However, from the current price at 1.3530, it is highly likely to test the key zone at 1.3388.

I still see a high probability of a test into the 1.3375 - 13394 key zone before a potential shift in trend imo.

...we have a new CWL in that pot supp zone that extends down to LWL. Bears have been up to task of selling the p/backs so far, but one of them will turn into more eventually, could even be this one? No one knows. It's U.s NFP day so could see some fireworks later, either or both ways, or not? Fib clusters to the downside circled below, ie; 3374-65 (3,) then 3355-48 (3.)

...that 1hr/4hr pennant pattern broke to the downside, pulled back inside it, (the 1hr pinbar,) and then went for a decisive 2nd b/o. Gmt+2hrs price feed 4hr closes bearishly. 3401 LWL/CML under threat? Meantime, the medium-term to Longer-term bulls will be hoping for a favourable NFP.

GBPUSD_H4 Update. On this TF, we now have this, price is staying below the SMA5, broke and remained below the SMA100, and approaching the SMA200 coming in @1.3364.

It is Friday, January 9, 2026. Today is the first "NFP Friday" of the new year, and the market is on high alert. The "Cable" (GBP/USD) is currently feeling the heat, trading near 1.3410 after a week of intense volatility.

As we head into the 8:30 AM ET release of the US Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP), the British Pound is facing pressure from a resurgent US Dollar, fueled by safe-haven demand due to geopolitical flare-ups in South America and a disappointing UK GDP outlook.

Brace yourselves, traders—it’s NFP Friday! The first major US jobs report of 2026 drops today, and GBP/USD is already testing the critical 1.3400 psychological floor. With the market expecting around 70,000 new jobs, any surprise to the upside could send the Dollar into overdrive, while a "miss" might be the only thing that saves the Sterling's recent rally.

Technically, the pair is sitting right on its 200-day SMA. If this level breaks, we could be looking at a slide toward 1.3380. However, if the jobs data comes in weak, look for a snap-back toward 1.3470. Remember, the first 30 minutes after the release are the most dangerous—stay disciplined!

  2. Resistance: 1.3473 & 1.3535
  3. Event: US Non-Farm Payrolls at 8:30 AM ET.
