National City is a bank but it is just the mortgage unit that is in trouble right now:

I believe for the US equity markets and the worldwide ones too there has to be a big down day. To date it has been a "controlled" freefall. Since the dow is down today -300 already maybe an additional 300 for a -600 down day might do it. Something to shake out the rest of the nervous longs.

Until that is done we might continue lower 150-200 points day after day for weeks more.
