The random nature of forex trading makes it extremely difficult to stay consistent year in year out. Forex is designed to create few winners from multiple losers. This explains why 79% of retail traders lose money in forex trading.

You can swing real good but the market will be ranging and favouring the scalpers. You can scalp real good and the market will be trending and be favouring swing and position traders.

So what the heck works? Swing, scalp, intraday or position trading? It all depends on the market condition at that point in time.

Yes, your risk management will prevent you from losing money but you may as well discover that you have just wasted your time the whole year.

It is possible to be a very good analyst and not be a good trader, and it is also possible to be a good trader and not be a good analyst. Just like football, a good coach may not be a good player and a good player may not be a good coach.

In summary, know what works for you and the time to apply what works for you. Study patterns and know when to fight and when to retreat. Forex is extremely dynamic and you must apply dynamism to be consistently profitable.
