I went to a financial adviser conference in London, held by a major UK fund group, the day after D-Day on the FTSE100 in Oct 2008 - about 150 financial advisers turned up, cut a long story short, the fund groups economists had to tear up their presentations as the previous days FTSE100 action and prior to that had made their economic case BS, all they could say was "We're in a bear market, we don't know how long it will last or how low it will go"

So even the economists, with degrees, failed to see it coming and failed to provide answers - that was the day I decided I needed to research the markets myself
