I mentioned @ the w/e that last week's bearish wkly candle close was the 8th consecutively on that t/f, - last time this happened was the year 2013, so a rare event! There were 8+ bullish weekly closes last year (2023,) up from last year's 1802 lo starting in March of that year.

Hmm. Very rare event? This line of thinking is incorrect since past events do not change the probability that certain events will occur in the future aka if it’s down 8 weeks doesn’t necessarily mean it should go up now because of that…

How else could we explain movements?

Hi. You are right, past events cannot in and of themselves change what will happen in the future, but (using this example,) the fact that there have already been 8 means that the probability of a 9th is low -based on (but not directly affected by,) these past events. The lesser probability can happen though, of course it can, and does many times, but not as many as the greater probability!
