I do no see how you could possible know where liquidity is located when trading the spot market from mt4 , liquidity is classed as resting orders above and below the current price , all your seeing on mt4 is spot orders ( aggressive orders) past and present coming in and at best what you are advocating is a guess.

There is nothing inherent in market structure or any form of technical analysis that tells you where resting orders (liquidity) (limit buys and sells) are located.

Market structure is a method for spotting new trends developing after a corrective phase.

Friend,

It is the same subject that is being given different name.

Basically, they are just the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Support Resistant Point which are meant to be broken or resisted by trends that unfold through Market Structure.

It's really not possible to quantify or identify the strength of any level just as stated by you. It's a point to be referenced to protect oneself from being crushed.

Just adding some spices because you know much more about the subject.

To me pip, it's confluence, for eg if I see a great S&R point allied with a BRN, then in my mind we have a high probability of liquidity. Just a different perspective mate.

The point is that it is none of those , read my statement again, you are looking at spot orders past and present there is no amount of T/A that will inform you in advance of someone entering the market on spot anything else is in the imagination.

Limit orders or liquidity rest high above and below current price , not at previous peaks and troughs, so once again you will not know in advance where liquidity is unless you trade futures and have access the DOM

Interesting discussion above. All we know about previous fractal swing hi or lo's is that there existed an imbalance in supply over demand / demand over supply respectively, there in the past. On the spot/cash market. participants, as Pipfarm suggests, cannot tell for an absolute certainty or at least as readily as on a futures/central exchange type market whether there will exist such an imbalance again if challenged by price, - one way or the other, (let alone what type of orders may be there or above/below it respectively,) such that price breaks though it or bounces away from it (howsoever temporarily or longer.) As readers of this thread may have noted when I refer to such a previous fractal swing hi or lo zone on whatever t/f [s,]) I refer to it as potential res/rbs. -or- potential supp/sbr, for this reason. It's the classic break or bounce question/conundrum @ potential supp or res.

What we do know, or at least should know, is what the price context is on our t/f's of choice if price challenges such a zone/level, ie whether they are trending or ranging, and whilst we can't know for an absolute certainty where future liquidity may exist - patterns repeat both @ the retail level and institutional level, and probably more importantly, @ the short-term level (like day traders/intraday traders,) and longer-term position traders level. We can therefore make informed assumptions about what type of orders exist and where. To give a crude example, - @ say a previous swing hi zone = potential res (that price is approaching from below it,) there could be sell limit orders in/at it, and buy stops above it. There could even be sell limits above it, re the b/o players.

Mallee makes the point about confluence, and it's a good point. As an example, and using the scenario outlined above, the more t/f's that previous fractal swing hi = pot res exists on, the more likely it is that there will be some sell limit orders @/in it, with buy stops, and possibly more sell limits above iand this is to say nothing of other potential supp/res factors like fibs and calculated pivots that may exist there too. Continuing with this scenario when price is rising it is looking for sellers to fill the demand, and it is the imbalance of demand over supply, (ie insufficient sellers,) @ each price level it reaches that this is the case that causes it to rise further until balance is achieved. Indeed @ a previous swing hi zone any sell limit orders could be filled by buy stops once they are activated.

Analysis of any kind really tells us nothing for an absolute certainty, (not even based on Level 2/DOM/Market profile etc,) but we can build up data and spot the repeating patterns, and the probabilities of one thing happening over another in the future should/when those patterns repeat again, based on that historical data.
To answer mallee's question, - apply optimized risk and trade management to this, and that's how traders (consistently and over the long term) make money.
