USDJPY price action on the daily time frame is consolidating within a rising channel (blue). Presently, bearish price action is retesting the 152.520 value area which was flipped as horizontal support by bullish price action on Wednesday. Further bearish push may see a retest of the 150.810 horizontal support or the lower channel trendline. This may later extend to the 149.200 longer-term horizontal support (green).

I may be wrong. Trade safe and prosper.

Does anyone know why JPY pairs have been experiencing intense volatility in the first three hours of the Asian session this week? I couldn't trade this week (and only this week) because, during these hours, the broker’s spreads are very high. Is there any intervention from the Bank of Japan? Does anyone know the reason why these movements are being anticipated this way?

The latest USDJPY is currently at 156, and it's still showing an upward trend. In my view, it looks like it will continue to climb higher, especially with the USD gaining strength. As long as the bullish momentum holds, I expect the price to push even further up.

Thanks for your chart and colourful comments. I am bullish usdjpy - not married to that thought though so I wamted to know the details of your thoughts and your post.

USDJPY price action on the daily time frame is consolidating within a rising channel (red). On Friday, price action retested the lower channel trendline after a bullish drive towards the upper part of the channel. Technically, we may see a northward rotation to retest the upper channel trendline or an intra-day area of value.

It has been reported that the nuclear doctrine (national policy guideline for nuclear deterrence), which outlines the conditions for the use of nuclear weapons, has been revised, and risk-averse selling is prevailing, but unfortunately it does not seem that Japan has the power to deal with a Russian attack.
In other words, if Russia were to prepare for or launch a nuclear attack, the value of the US dollar would rise and the value of the yen would fall.

bearish on dollar yen ......price reacting good to the monthly bearish order block at the 155's......A move back to the 140's is so ideal

The USDJPY price action on the daily time frame is presently sideways after a bearish pullback of a bullish drive to retest the 155.400 horizontal resistance area. But the technical impulse favours bulls more than bears. Thus, a northward drive is likely to be more feasible than a southward one.

From a fundamental perspective, there are many factors that suggest a rise in the USD/JPY exchange rate, such as (1) the expectation that the Trump trade will become more serious as the triple red is realized (US inflation concerns are rekindled → US interest rates rise and US dollar buying) and (2) the expectation that the yen carry trade focusing on the interest rate difference between Japan and the US will resume. The geopolitical risks surrounding Russia and Ukraine are unlikely to lead to a unilateral decline in the USD/JPY, as "risk-averse yen buying" and "emergency dollar buying" will occur simultaneously. In addition, the "foreign exchange intervention" and "December interest rate hike expectations" by the government and the Bank of Japan also carry the risk of causing a sudden drop in Japanese stocks, so it can be judged that unless a very urgent situation occurs where the yen weakens (a situation where the yen weakens sharply beyond the high of 161.99 recorded on July 3 this year), it is likely that "foreign exchange intervention" and "additional interest rate hikes" will be postponed.
