A countertrend strategy attempts to make small gains by trading against the current, broader trend. Traders also refer to the practice as countertrend

Gold =Im waiting for a reason to short.
Idiot mode do not enter a trade just because gold is too high and must pullback. wait for a reason dictated by price action.
What is price action?For me is any action like price trading below low of yesterday,price forming engulfing or any other reversal bar,price trading below a ma,below any horizontal line.
no part of the original page but when trading i use seasonal historia.
trading the gold and owning the metal are July and November. The worst gold seasonality months are February, March and October.
So if historia repite october will be good month to short gold if price action agree like price closing below the last 20 days low horizontal line or price closing below the last 10 days's low for more agresivo traders helped by tdi if you like or trust all those bad tdi signals

Yes traders have to be flexible in trading both ways as the price moves.

Be it trend following or countertrend, the important thing is have a plan and follow the rules.

For instance, TMS take consideration of previous highs and lows, and the trend.
In an uptrend, TMS traders can avoid sell and look for TMS buy setups. Wait for the TDI signals to ensure the setup is complete before executing a trade

Countertrend trades with TMS can use other indications such as TDI 68 retrace and rejections at previous high.

You are getting there.

In reality you just take 10 second to analyse and decide to trade a TMS setup.
If you manage to explain your trade entries in a couple sentence, you are in the right path

For instance, post #647 involves just a few elements to consider a TMS setup.

Previous Highs and Lows
Trend
Rejection and Last Reversals (what happened to that HH price level in the past)
TDI signal

Remember, to check posts #557 and #7555 for your Exit Strategy which works all the time.

Forget all the crap being posted on using mobile to trade.
To implement the Exit Strategy mentioned in posts #557 and #7555 , use the trade manager EA which runs only in your PC based MT4.
Have your trading PC running with MT4 with a reliable Internet connection. The trade manager EA will manage your trades exits according to your Exit Strategy while go abut your daily life and ectivities. You execute your buy and sell market orders when you receive your trade setup alerts using TMS trading tools.

For trading against current price movement direction (countertrend), TMS traders look at previous highs and lows, then wait for a rejection with TDI cross signal confirming the momentum.

in its simplest form
So I put it this way :
To enter a trade
#1 Wait for a retest Previous h/l and a rejections
#2 Wait for TDI cross signal to confirm

That is the simplest way.
There more ways but you can take from this your own way from the thread creator
Daily chart I'm adding to short with stoploss 7 pips above the last red candle
