Ceebs,

I wish you would have included more info... like timeframe, etc.

If you entered as candle #2 started continuing short and followed it all the way to the end of the bottom wick... then exited after it drew back 5-6 pips... you would have won this trade I believe...

But like you said... no method wins all of the time... we all take losses here and there...

Bill... good observation.

Dean Malone would have said no trade because green wasn't below the yellow line too...

FX-Trader,

Your trading 2 methods melted together... CH & Synergy and the TDI. Look at the lines on the TDI where your trade was at.. pretty much flat lines, weak angles... stay out signals.

Sorry I think people have misunderstood my question as a thinly vailed pop at BiG E's 5 Method. It really wasn't, it was just a dumb question, out of interest really (so I should know what to aim for). I'm really very very greatful to Big E and the other guys for helping and sharing with the rest of the community.

Now back to the subject of the 5 method......

No problem man......I just hate to see people get hung up on statistics like 'pips per trade' because, as I said, it's meaningless in the bigger picture. I wasn't 'protecting' Big E or anything like that, I'm certain that he can look after himself....I'm just trying to sweep away some of the unimportant stuff for you, so that you can see clearly where you are going in your fx journey
Doing what you like is Freedom. Liking what you do is Happiness.

I've been sitting on the sidelines watching the TDI HA methods being discussed. Since this is a method I don't quite grasp, I haven't posted any charts or views.

Best Regards

P.S. If you would make some videos though, Big E, maybe the light bulb would turn on!

One big issue that I haven't been able to satisfy yet with the TDI, is that the TDI repaints itself when the next candle is formed. You may see a red/green cross on the TDI, but when the current candle closes and the next forms, the lines will often undo the cross. If this trading method is based primarily on TDI crosses, I find it a little boggling figuring out (in real time), how to gauge these crosses.

Tick & time based chart.
Marked possible enter points with vertical line on the tick chart. (5 method) Tick chart is set to 266, no reason for it just trying it out.
Tick is first time second.

I don't know if one is better but they do look different. I will keep observing the tic charts.

NeoRio,

I suggest you give up on using the TDI like when HLass system didn't make any sense to you. He made money with his system. I make good money with my 5 method too... it just doesn't fit you somehow and I know your a smart guy. You don't like any of the rules for this method.
How about dropping it off your hate list...deal? All the issues you bring up don't seem to effect my success... please put it to bed. You have a method that works great for you and that is all that matters.

The trade this morning (CAD/USD) I told you I missed the entry has gone about 73 pips into profit (top of this page).

The posts I asked you to help on were dealing with the CH method unless I mis-understood their question.

Good trading tonight....

Sweet, thanks. I have you to thank for introducing me to the CH method (actually, it was Howard Lass who introduced me to your thread). It was definitely the push in the right direction that I needed.

I have my hands pretty full right now with all I'm working on, I'm not sure I could manage a new thread on top of it all.

Apologies if you felt I was bashing your method, or the TDI, I did not intend to. I was actually trying to justify myself for not having posted more charts or been more involved with the thread in recent weeks as the main focus has been the TDI methods of trading.

Kind Regards,
Neo

Numbers what tick size are you using? I could not make it out from the image... 144? 610? 144t on EURUSD is very similar to a 5m and 610t is very similar to the 15m. Tick charts are nice if you want time compression b/c the false lulls of the market are then weeded out.

How do you use Tick charts on MT4? Can you share the code? I only have been using tick charts on Tradestation.

Here is a tradestation 610 tick chart with HA bars and a TDI imitation....

Focus on the swings created during the US session when the Tick candle closed outside the channel. Each swing was roughly 40 pips.

At first glace looks promising but would need some more testing to verify.

enjoy!

The 4 Hr., USD/CAD trade is up to 91 pips profit now...

You can trade the 5 method without the TDI if it's a problem...

PA is HA Candles, PA crosses the yellow line and closes... enter on the next candle if it's the same color. When candles flatten out... exit. Stay in the trade as long as it doesn't cross back over the yellow line and close.

The TDI just gives me a lot more information for making my entries & exits decisions.

Big E, forgive me for asking I am getting a little confused with all the different methods being discussed... thus the reason I was blending them. Is the 5 method the 5 SMA H/L method or is that just reserved for the Synergy.

Would it be possible to recap the different methods being discussed, if your up to it?

Thank you in advance
