Looking at the chart, big down trend seem to start.

for GU.

Will have to be careful in taking long trades

So how can you predict gold movement this year? Will we see a big rally up?

I wish I could predict the markets and especially gold. But here's my analysis. Since 6th October 2023 we see a rally in price mostly driven by geopolitical factors (Invasion of Gaza as well as tension between countries in the Middle East). Strange thing is that during similar conditions back in February 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine we saw a rally but nothing similar to the one we saw in the past 6 months. Obviously there was something pushing prices further north. Someone is buying right? Can't be only the rise of inflation. Lately there are Chinese officials( don't know if it's true I'm reading the news like everyone else) stating that they are selling US Bonds and buying Gold. On Friday they announced the pause of this operation. I'm not an analyst but I see that announcements like that are driving the price. I can see a retracement from the latest highs happening but not a price crash. If we'll see another rally?? I doubt it. If the tensions in the Middle East ease in the near future price will fall further. Personally I'm waiting for CPI/FOMC next week to see a direction in DXY. If the war comes to an end and we see a strong dollar in the next couple of weeks, I can only short Gold.

in higher time frame , it is in tringle of 2023 trendlines , and also to be note there is one BOS test is pending at 1.26 around giving fib 50% around area, 200EMA and BOS in weekly structure . so expecting market will retrace then towards up trend continue or test of swing low of 2023 trendline . but all tis will be unlock after breaking of 1.269
