I'm thinking maybe bitcoin had an effect.
Also gold reacts to USD almost exclusively to USD news. Its value is tied to failure of world top currencies. USD and Chinese yuan. Chinese yuan is tied to the dollar.
They both make up over 50percent of world economy or close.
