I read usdx as for what it is: an index.
say you have a stable eur usd and cable
and for some reasons usd cad or the usd jpy goes up 150pips.
that will affect usdx but not much

say you have a falling eur usd and cable for reasons
and a stable usd cad or usd jpy
that will affect the usdx A LOT!
