Hi Birdland,
We all have our own views and I respect that. Perhaps the Ukrainian subscribers at FF will have a better view. My personal view is that Ukraine can hardly have elections when infrastructure, cities and towns, homes and so forth ares being blown up by Russia. Least to say, thousands of Ukranians are directly affected in this war and a whole nation directly or indirectly. Millions have fled Ukraine and are displaced across the world. Can elections be held in such times??I stand by Zelenski when it comes to media blackouts which is the most sensible thing to do in war time. Of course Ukraine is a young democracy and are in a transition phase much like South Africa in a post apartheid era. It is a learning curve for them and they will eventually be a part of the EU and Nato, provided the war ends. That is a democracy in the making in my opinion,
As for elections In Russia. Really, do you think it will be a fair and democratic election? We all know that Putin will be the winner by hook or crook. Of cousre he needs to show a win on the battlefield and sending his soldiers to die in senseless battles. That is why Andriivka is so important for Putin, He needs to silence his critics in some way or another.
Just my opinion and I will not elaborate further on this.

Not passing comment on Ukraine situation but, Britain held elections during WW2. Churchill had to watch Clement Atlee do the victory lap after the Allies won.

i do tend to agree with you, honestly i expected GU to be bullish but seems the other way around, Im happy im away from trading as the past couple of days has been quite choppy!

I was thinking for the period when the interest rates are really starting to go down. Maybe this will start over three months. And probably we have then less war.

US will drop rates first I believe. BoE is say maybe May or June. Both of these will start the yo-yo effect race to the bottom

of course i respect other opinions, otherwise i wouldn't be a trader. i even seek the exchange of opposing views, it's the only way to grow and develop. one reason why democracies are superior to authoritarian states. and why strongly religious and dogmatic societies don't get off the ground.

one person is short, the other is long, positional thinking is poison on the stock market as well as in life. in the end, everything is ground down by reality, like a diamond by a diamond cutter.

russia's elections are of course a farce compared to truly democratic states in the west or the civilised world. i just wanted to make it clear why i still don't count ukraine among the democratic states. anti-semitism is still strong there, i have jewish friends who had to flee ukraine overnight because of the life-threatening hostilities. that was 15 years ago, though.

@Ziemowit, sorry for the late answer but I had a problem locating the chart you were talking about. I didn't post it on the forum but found it in my journal. Here is the 30M chart I make decisions for the upcoming day based on my method of trading.

When GU took the weekly high at @1.27246 and then returned to this level (previous resistance becoming support) I took the long trade (magenta arrow) to the first level of weekly extension @1.2785. Before I had a small loss b/c I thought that the prior swing high @1.27334 would hold. I hope it helps.

With or without democracy, the history was written on the battlefield with or without some diplomacy: WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq a.s.o.
