they avoid speaking about math, because they are 0 in math ... so their picture in front of others remains bright!

EXPOSURE, the best tool to get 100% full hedge for amy three pairs composed of the three currncies

example:
EUR - NZD - CAD
compose pairs:
EURNZD
EURCAD
NZDCAD

if EURUSD = 1 lot,,,, then contract size is 100,000 EUR ,
if EURNZD is BUY , then to make EUR exposure at 0 EUR, you must enter EURCAD 1 lot SELL

Now EUR exposure is 100000 - 100000 = 0 EUR (total EUR hedge)

Now to balance for CAD

we already have 1 lot on CAD: EURCAD in last post, sell order ..
then NZDCAD, must be BUY, since CAD here is a Quote currency . .
EURCAD er have 1 lot = 100,000 EUR = 100,000*1.43491 = -143,491 CAD ..
CAD is espoused to the market by this quantity: 143,491 CAD
therefore for NZDCAD we must have x lots that make CAD exposure + 143,491 (to get net hedge = 0 ==> exposure=0, as if there is no CAD currency)

hence: EURCAD=1.43491

But CAD in NZDCAD, is a qoute . . .
the balance first for NZD . . .

NZD have 1 lot (comes from EURNZD)
EURNZD = 1 lot = 100,000 EUR = 100,000*1.78567 = 178,567 NZD . . .
then to cancle this 178,567 we must make lots of NZDCAD = 1.78567 lots ( = price of EURNZD)

Now for NZDCAD = 1.78567 lots = 178,567 NZD = 178,567*0.8036 = 143,496 CAD

compare it to last post result -143,491
??

fo not forget the effect of spread is the source if this slight differemce

Conclusion:
if
EURNZD=1 lot
EURCAD=1 lot
NZZDCAD= 1.78567 lot

you get the full hedge ....
always your P/L is 0.00 what ever the market direct, what ever these pair volatility ..

Now what is the case for 4 currencies . . . to get total hedge ... 100% hedge !!!

4 currencies ===> x pairs
what is the value of x?
ans: absolutely x = 6

assume you have these 4: EUR-NZD-CAD-CHF..
then: count with me:
1-EURNZD
2-EURCAD
3-EURCHF
4-NZDCAD
5-NZSDCHF
6-CADCHF

or you can use equations of statistics/probability courses

the best, even lengthy, procedure, is to treat 4-case as a if it was many subsets of 3-case condition . . to avoid passible math errors . .
1) EURNZD-->EURCAD-->NZDCAD (3 CURRENCIES, 3 PAIRS)
2) EURNZD-->EURCHF-->NZDCHF (3 CURRENCIES, 3 PAIRS)
3) EURCAD-->EURCHF-->CADCHF (3 CURRENCIES, 3 PAIRS)
4) NZDCAD-->NZDCHF-->CADCHF (3 CURRENCIES, 3 PAIRS)


Only 4 possible subsets .. no more, mind can not imagine more . . .
treat them separately, and final step add each pair lots . .

assume you have 1 lot on EURUD, and 1 Lot on EURCAD and 1.0640 lot on USDCAD ....
what will be your P/L after 1 hour? after 1 day? after 1 week? after 1 month? after 1 year?

always the answer IS: your P/L is zero --- due to full hedge of all three currencies EUR + USD + CAD . .
