Let's all remember just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that you are right, if you don't want to stir up arguments and emotions then DON'T post stuff that will cause this...it's so hard for me to understand how folks can't get this...of course I may be wrong as its only my opinion ...

A good comparison to the trading industry would be walking in to a Casino.

You are instantly recognized by the staff and have everyone adress you. Suddenly you are someone.
As you walk in you are offered ”free” drinks or food of different kind, and offered to sit at different tables.
Maybe you are initially to lose, and then have some random friendly stranger talk to you how much he/she won.
You decide it to give it a try at another game after talking to a new friend. Suddenly you win, and keep winning(!) you are absolutely hooked by now. You think you found a ”winning method” and that you could possibly turn rich if you keep at it.
Wise as you are you decide to walk home with the winnings, thinking you outsmarted the casino.
The only problem being - you are most likely coming back.

The next time you enter the casino, you decide to ”bet big” now is the time you will make your big break, have your road to riches secured. You decide to bet again, and you win again and again. Now you attracted what seemingly appear to be other customers in the casino to your table, you are ”popular” and everyone of them wants to know how you keep winning. So you keep gambling to maintain your status and your newfound friendships, suddenly you have a losing streak and you lost more money then you gained. Your ”godlike” status is fading away and your friends are moving to other tables. Now you didn’t only lose money but also friends and your own hyped up status. You would do anything to gain it back. This is where the casinos ”educators” step in, when you are most emotionally vulnerable and open to ”new ideas”. Suddenly you are offered an book/ or have a professional give you away ”his secret” you start winning again and regain some recognition. You repeat the new methods and have even stronger belief than before in the methods, now you are not only motivated by profits but also fear of losing friends and social status.

You re-visit the casino over and over, and become a regular. You ears only listen to your newfound friends and not any outside found voice of reason. In fact your new friends seem to have an interest in demonizing these voices of reason. To chase them away. And you are thinking they are trying to protect you or have some kind of personal interest in you becoming succesful.

But you never asked yourself: ”did this happen before in my life?”. Did you ever have people spending their time and effort to make you successful? Of course they didn’t. They could cheer your success and dream of having the same, but when you were losing was there anyone there to catch the fall? They would give you a pat on the shoulder and walk away at best.
You are back at the casino, with the staff. Trying your luck again, you are given wins sometimes to keep you hooked but overall you lose.

If we take this analogy to trading you can ask yourself: 1) Who are my newfound friends? 2) Who is giving away the free drinks at the casino? 3) Who steps in as your ”protector” without you asking them too and demonizes certain methods or people. 4) Who is posting dreams of fortune and keeping you ”inspired” to do the same 5) who is stirring up emotions making you open to suggestions and emotionally closed to listening to those being demonized?

Consider this and you are able to know who works for the Casino.

Very well explained, and many people do in fact do like this.
Tbh, idk how this is related to trading, while in trading the market dont give a f*ck about what you do.
In trading, we dont bet our whole account in a trade unlike the gambler.
If the trade work, we are up x% but if it doesnot worked, we ALREADY know the amount we are gonna lose, because our risk is always calculated before we push the buy or sell button. What we don't know is how much we gonna make if the trade will work.

You play defensive first then when you see price unfolding in your favour, you attack. Adding more position. If you cannt add more position when you get confirmation price will go in your favour, then your first entry is too big. Thats where people tend to fuck up. They dont add or have nothing left to add when the price unfolding in their favour, they initial size too big. That why it get harder to recover if the trade failed.

Based on this typical example, you dont need millions pip to say you are a successful trader, consistency is what determine a successful trader imho.

You get consistent by keeping your losses small. So you stay in the game longer. While your profits from 1 trade can cover 3 failed trades plus put your account into a positive.

The most successful traders (from market wizards) trade their own ideas, whether what they expect to happen, happened or not, they always stick to their own idea. Listen to a friend or X or Y, is the biggest poison to trading.

There is no wishful thinking or guardian angel in trading. Even your own shadow leaves you alone. It is a today you vs yesterday you game.

That what i've learn from trading!

The diference between trading and gambling is being able to work out mathematically the outcome. When gambling, you are competing against physical tools like tables, balls, etc (probabilities). When trading, you are competing against other conditioning players through asset values and time. (Equations). Within gambling, we must distinguish between games like poker and what i mentioned before due to the existence of conditioning players.

How it is related to trading? It is social engineering , it is harder to unlearn something once it is learned.

If you even have 55% of your customers lose and you gain from their losses you have a working business model.
Now imagine the profits you gain by having an statistical edge of an incredible +80% losing traders.

So it is in their interest to keep this business model working. The only way to make it work is to ”educate” people with half-hearted methods and make them more impulsive.

If someone has a working model and are spreading the method, it is in the industry’s interest to suppress that method. Cause it might turn those 80-90% losers to 70% losers.
If they have 70% losers they dont have the same capacity to offer large customers liquidity at a certain price, and thus they are not reliable business partners.

Brokers/intermediaries/dealers are all fighting for those large customers, and to gain them they have to fulfill their wishes or they will simply just move on the next broker.

In other words someone has to provide the necessary liquidity, and those are the less important customers.
When you win you take away liquidity from the market, when you have loads of orders trades you provide liquidity to the market.

And then they earn money by spreads,commissions ofc.

So, a casino, at the most, will send you (at your table) the bad luck guy who is on the casino's payroll. Superstition. In some exceptional cases, a regular winning player will not be allowed going into any casino. (I will tell a story next post.).
So, in trading, adoctrinating traders or misileading through social media specially is a must for the " banks".

Here in Spain, we had an organized family who were banned by Casinos as the winning probabiliy was spectacular. They sued casinos and won. Nevertheless, they decided to write a book telling how they won. They made more money selling the book which i cannot find on the internet for whatever reason. Hi Ferna, I know you wrote this out of goodwill. But I feel more like a haunted story. not quite like here.
I'm a little like you , would be suspicious about forex environment at first. After I've had some more study and live trading experience, I know there're things that are common and I should change my preconception, and find ways to overcome some inevitable bad conditions.
I love the free books trading skill that have been shared here, I will study all , pick up what I want and test on Demo Account for a while. Then I would know what is not working. I've tried developing my own system. It's a hard work and is still ongoing.
No one is supposed to be scam victim unless you let it happen. I mean it's all about oneself. It's not difficult to avoid scam.

Yes same in politics. Always plays on emotion. Social media is a big thing for companies, banks, political parties, lobby, religious associations. They simply go to where people are at and stir something up or befriend or educate.
