Doesn't do the economy any good to raise rates to fight inflation if the cause of the inflation is imported goods. Energy is a great example. Higher rates won't do anything to the price of imported gas and oil! Higher rates simply makes everything less affordable.Ignored

Inflation turns up in war, but war doesn't cause inflation; overspending causes inflation. Loans are how all new money is created/destroyed. That's why IR is the best tool. IR have to be over inflation over time, just like wages; otherwise, someone loses purchasing power.Ignored
