Heading into an election year, wanting to expand the labor market and fix damage done from Covid19, wanting to boost domestic production to reduce demand on Chinese imports, ...
I don't see rate increases as very likely. Flat rates and saber rattling about increases are in our future, according to my crystal ball.

BOC never increased rates as much as they did in the US. Much different economics, greater poverty and unemployment (both denied by government) in Canada as well as similar out of control government spending. Canada's real estate market is unsustainable in the Toronto and Vancouver area where housing is not affordable. Banks are currently setting up record foreclosure provisions! Provincial and Federal governments have destroyed and continue to do more damage in Canada!

Its not a zero sum game. Thats just a myth propagated by non market participants. In reality not all market participants are profit seeking. most are corporates hedging out balance sheet and cash flows in the markets irrespective of rates. retail traders are just a drop in the ocean. align yourself with daily liquidity flows or face peril as a retail trader

This is why traders lose money.

If on Monday, you made 3% profit and you started with $100 (for simple calculation), you now have $103. If you lost 3% yesterday, then you now have 97% of $103, which will be $99.91.
