I was listening to the latest Palisades Gold Radio podcast this morning and the guy on it was talking about his research into historical US government debt. He's found that on average, US gov debt doubles approximately every 8 years. A number of years ago he also predicted $40 trillion of debt very soon and everyone thought he was crazy, but here we are at $32 trillion. He pointed out that the interest payments on $40 trillion debt at 5% (because the debt can't be repaid they have to roll it over to the current interest rates) would take up 50%...
