of course,

TIME= number of TF bars in a period

for example, a DAY period direction can look exactly the same in all small TF's
H1= 24, M30= 48, M15= 96, M5= 288, M1= 1440

you can control TIME by changing the setting in indicators like MA BB ZZ and other, to let you read the period you wish.

the example you asked me about, I mentioned I'm going to use the same settings of BB 48 and ZZ 12
that will represent half a day BB and 3 hours ZZ in M15, but in M30 it will read a day in BB and 6 hours in ZZ.

so, if you wish to read in M15 1 day and 6 hours just change the settings to BB 96 and ZZ 24

and that will apply to any periods you want to read day/week/month in any TF. just count the bars for the periods.

Guys, I don't want to start another round of argument. I'm tired of it.

I posted because the topic is about intent.

And my main post on this subject is post #5490.
Once you know what you're trading it's much easier.

This is what I want to share with you guys, hopefully help someone out there. That's all.

I recognise Kwt4x charts(that's relevant to this topic of intent) and know straight away we have similar thoughts and approach to the market. That's why I approach him to expand this current conversation. Let's hope some people get it and turn around their trading start making money. Like what Kwt4x wrote.

My personal view on intent, is that the market will keep testing recent current TF highs & lows as well as the larger TF's H&L's if they coincide / close by.

The reason for this is that new orders will enter the market at these levels either to add to the intent or reverse the intent. (swing point).

MA's are fine to give one a sense of Buy / Sell Hemisphere ie. where the momentum of the market is, but do not give targets.

If the targets are easily spottable on the chart then they must be the focus of your attention and what happens once the target is reached.

News day & weekends can blow all targets out of the water, so you practise caution and reset them when markets " re-open " again.

I agree, this thread brings a lot of ideas / styles of trading to the table, lets keep them coming

This discussion of intent definitely went a different route than I was thinking. After reading through everything I see labels and meanings are important.

Intent to me is more of a longer goal as opposed to how to determine possible direction from whatever time frame one deems the most important. Intent infers deliberate reasons to do something.

I think what most are describing here as intent is normal market action which we have all agreed can be read and traded in many various ways.

Intent would be something to the like "is where prices are now the new norm?" and "can parity now be defined by the general levels the currencies are at currently". Things along those lines. The BIG PICTURE.

Everything else is market mechanics which as we see can be defined and traded in multiple ways. One last observation, all moves start from some lowly small time frame that expands -fractally- to others such as the M30, H4, D1.

Let me push the brackets of interpretation of intent a little more to see where I am coming from.

We know market will keep testing and establishing new highs lows throughout the day.

Let's say, GU ADR is 150pips, and we take 33% giving 50 pips. At 50pips day range(33%adr), what's the next 50pips expansion going to be, that gives 66% day range?

Once you put this parameter of the next 50pips the market will expand to, you find you have to know the market intent for the trading day.

This is the market intent I am talking about. And this 50pips expansion can only be moved by a h4 intent for intraday. Anything less will struggle to give enough pips, check it out yourself.

Anyone can check this out, on their charts. If you were limited to trading the next 50pips minimum as a criteria for your trades, you will understand what I on about h4 intent for intraday swing trades.
(I strongly recommend this trading exercise for at least a month, 50pips minimum take profit intraday, else the trade don't count. I bet you change the way you see markets and trading after this exercise.)

Once you understand 50pips range expansion intraday, then you get better understanding of smaller and larger range expansions.

That's why I've been harping on 50pips expansion as a pivotal point of understanding expansion as a whole, from the smaller to the larger dimensions. Cheers

My view on INTENT is,

The price always intends to move from one zone to another zone. Now, this zone can be defined as a quartet or an octet, or any other method of division. This zonal movement of price comprises continuously making/breaking new HIGH/LOW until it reaches the extreme elasticity point for a given TF. This HIGH/LOW breaking process is an attention grabber, to lure the volumes (traders' participation) so that the price can be moved to the target zone.

Does it apply to all pairs that have different ADR's? And what in your view is the ADR period of optimum benefit?

For 50pips minimum take profit intraday, the pair should ideally have a ADR20 between 100 - 150pips. Don't want it to be too large else you get volatility issues.

The recommended pairs are, GU, EJ, GJ, EA and ECAD.

It seems most are using intent to mean things as "bias" or just ordinary market mechanics. An H4 time frame does not have intent. Some one may have an intent for that four hours. Then throw in some mumbo jumbo and you get the last couple pages.

How I understand what you said above.

Basically let 40 pips ride to show intent, then take 50 pips out of the ADR remaining.
