In my view, I think that the idea of larger timeframes predicting the lower timeframes is a bit simplistic and not entirely accurate.
It's more likely that the smaller timeframes are contributing to the larger timeframes, and what we see on the bigger charts is a summation of what's happening on the smaller ones.

So, instead of looking at the 30-minute chart as the sole predictor of market direction, it makes more sense to study the smaller timeframes and use that information to make trading decisions on higher timeframes, even intraday.

In summary, while the concept of multi-timeframe biasing has some merit, it is important to understand the complexities of how smaller timeframes contribute to larger ones and not simply rely on the larger timeframe charts to make trading decisions.

Well - as DrDave has preached for a very, very long time - it is both.
a) the smaller TFs (the smallest being the movement of price itself) create what we perceive as trending moves
b) as long as higher TFs are in a strong trending phase the likelihood of the smaller TFs showing the stronger moves in this trend direction follows logically
c) price having moved away from the average for a longer time will eventually come back to it (this can be interpreted as a weakening of the trend movement - i. e. the slope of any MA will tell you - if you look closely - how strong trend (still) is at any given moment etc)
d) as all indicators (and TFs) are (visual) simplifications of one ongoing price movement that shouldn't come as a surprise.

This picture explains MTFs but it is not quite what it seems, each major wave is one cycle of any timeframe you are looking at , if you can find the major swings in 2 timeframes you can find out where you are. The thing to look for is the major corrective swing then look at the higher timeframe to see if it is also a correction within the higher timeframe major swing trend.

Market structure? I'm also looking into it, but I can't find the key issues, it all seems too subjective.
Just follow the trend.
