Hello any passing Fair Value Gappers. Albeit I do not trust them ( mainly because I wouldn't recognise a genuine FVG if it bit my ankle) is the one shown on the 15 minute chart valid or simply another type of Gap? {image} {image}

The old guys gave us the know how Turnip. HL HL HL Lh Lh Lh etc.

Pull back to the RN 500 and 200ema confluence on 5min = HL. Confirmed by consolidation and first large green candle.

{quote} Hi turnip, Yes mate you nailed it, forward testing is your only option. But I don’t really know. I don’t have 3min charts either, so maybe take my 5 min chart here with a grain of salt. It is a pure hindsight chart as I do NOT trade this pair, ever, and I don’t know its behaviour really, at all. But it is always fun for me to look at any past chart & speculate what I might have done (might hahaa !). Would I have traded all this - in the moment - who knows lol, probably not. The only thing I know for sure is the “Question Mark ?” on your...

After watching the video with Alan Hull the creator of the Hull moving average and how he described using a geometric solution to his formula. That got me to thinking of the latest geometric pattern discussed here. This makes me think if maybe there is some geometric formulations within the #Algo for these types of behavior.

We all know it is not just triangles and zeppelins.

Just something to ponder ...
Mark ... Either you understand or you don't, and that is that.

Exactly.
And regardless of what the market does (algos or otherwise) our mission is "where do we trade it all" imho.

The larger market often will go back to source (triangles, if you like, V Patterns etc etc)
And often uses a launching pad (zepp, inflection, BB squeeze etc etc)

Trading of the market (structure, structure breaks, re-tests etc) by any method incl ma's is OUR art, whatever perspective we use when we hit the "trade button".

If any wish to get into something deeper (envelopes, centred ma's, focal points, geometry etc etc) and market cycles
they could do a lot worse than having a look in at what parisboy has provided in that genre on his FF posts over the years.
https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/...6#post14305086

But, in the end, it is WE who says 'trade now' (always)

Trying to put it all together in words is harder than showing charts.

Four charts

Just discretionary trading on the fly, at the market moment mark

1st, with all my ma’s tight and the market maybe starting an ‘expansion’ who knows, I’ll wait & see
no trade yet

2nd, was hoping for rotation around the RN000 & Daily PP, prior to any liftoff from inflection at the horizontal ma’s
there was a George Target up at 161.187 (06:15 on 15m chart from yesterday)
no trade, AND then missed the blastoff lol

Price ran to the George Target and now the RN250 was too close a target for pips, no trade (yet again)
crikey

Now the market has done 80 pips on a Monday morning here in Asia and price is rotating up at the RN250
watch market behaviour
is it in exhaustion & stall now after a 80 pip run ????
is there inflection around that .250
maybe a possible sell entry with danger above at the RN500 and Daily R1 as possible market targets
(targets now ? or maybe later, and would be a tough DD at -25 pips)

Anyway, inflection came on the 1min chart just above .250 so EnterSell, with a 50% retrace as target
Price still retests up at the .250 so I AM in & watching PA closely now with a live trade entered

On the 1min chart we start getting LHs so my trade is still safe at this point imho.

Then the fling down, I get out for a TP around the 50% retrace knowing full well it can go further down,
but I have ‘theirs” in my a/c

No FOMO, so the trade was done & closed. +14.6p
That’s good enough in Asia (and in fact a day, for me) so shop closed now till Franky and will look in again.

This is not special trading. NOT AT ALL. And is not system trading. It is discretionary trading, in the moment.
And doesn’t always work out. This morning it did, price respected Market Mechanics and that’s it.

Do I recommend this style of trading. Hell no. In fact I don’t recommend trading AT ALL, to folks.
It’s just what I do.

Find what works for YOU. Don’t listen to me, or anybody. Pls find your OWN way, that suits yourself.

So just charts here for an interest factor is all.
Which also helps ME too, to reflect on what I see when I open charts (and to fix any bugs in my outlook).

(Thanks for Dutchy Andy, which is also a pseudo journal, at times lol, thx pal)

(edit: they are trying the market higher around .250 again, but I have no more compulsion to trade right now)

Trade well.

Hi Pete,

Great trade on GBP/JPY. I would have taken it too but maybe on the next pin bar which formed just after 7 or 8 candles if i was not working..lol. RN and Time (around Tokyo Open), 2 factors set in stone for me. Other confluences were pin bars, DT, PFH. For me maybe the TP would be near the 200EMA or just before that as i have noticed that at times the price just turns before these RNs or EMAs. Just my input. Ur trade was top notch as always.

Regards

Hi W, cheers
Yes I observe that you also like & trade these RN areas as well, and we have both thanked Kev before for putting this stuff back in our minds & charts for sure.
The 2nd PBar 7-8 candles later definately was the best entry retest of area/structure.
If you note where THAT 2nd PBar peaked high you will understand that I sometimes think to myself it was just the MM/LP taking price 'back' to just above my entry to offset it to someone else rather than holding onto it themselves, who knows LOL, anything can happen inside my imagination

Hi mark, this is what I always enjoy about your Journal in that the Methods which we both retain as our own style have concepts which are quite similar.

No further trades by me since this morning and my 'rest period' hahaaa.
But I have to put up this last chart lol as I have just finished lunch/dinner in prep for Franky and look what they did hahaaaa, pretty to watch really
as I do like to come back to the screen with price having moved to a new area with new potantial setups (tho I will wait for London now I reckon )

I mean, really, how can any new-to-trading novice pull up a chart with a set of indis etc and explain to themselves wtf just happened.

I take it, it was based on this nonsense say-nothing talking heads statement lol that set the HFT algos whizzing & buzzing looking for a quick kill (and which many scalping bots would have been killed themselves on the rapid pullback).
https://www.forexlive.com/centralban...mped-20230130/

Makes our trading game interesting though.

Hats off to you Kev/Bluey. It WAS Monkey Business (lunch) Time again, indeed

I have been stalking AUD for the last one week. Today (1st day of the week & 1st session of the day) it came into my zone of play. And, hell yeah I traded this bad boy left, right, and center. Even though I mainly trade AU, based on my analysis of AU, I also traded the AU cross pairs as BY PRODUCTS.

More room to go?? I don't know, the week and the day are still young. I will jump on again if PA approves. Just wanted to get paid and start the week on the front foot.

Hi turnip, mate the times (of day) we trade can be just as important as the chart view we trade, imo. all the best.

{quote} Curious, why is it important to see him do a live trade. Do any of the others have a method which they promote in their live trading? Not defending Stacey Burke even though much of what I do comes from his concepts. If it was a mechanical system with indis and all sorts of other things one would need to be aware of, then live demos would be a must. Granted it would give him a huge amount of cred if he did do some live trading. I personally do not watch live trading. Why? I can watch my own live trades ... ...
