Hi Timetells,

Great charts. Its all there infront of us. At times we see it and at times we miss it. Its all about getting in at the right time. Targets are always there but lots of manipulations...lol. Sometimes i get in too early and pay the price. One thing is guaranteed though, that it will hit the target either side.

Mate I don't recommend folks trade at all lol (well without grabbing the understanding of the mechanics of what the market can "do")

But you have shown great understanding, as i see it, on your charts so why not for sure, if the market is 'doing' what you recognise at the time.
(When I don't 'recognise' what the market is 'doing' at the time on my 1m, 5m, 15m cycle charts I just stop & step aside and reassess on the 1hr, 4hr, 1DY)

Over the years I have observed that folks CAN get into bother trading the GBPJPY
(or any derivative pair I imagine- ie NOT one of the majors - GU, EU, AU,UCad, UChf,UJ)

That bother they often get into is when the GJ market grinds in one direction amd is seemingly unstoppable
(no major pullbacks, no return to source by session, no bermuda triangle)

Andy/Moody put me onto a method I can use for then checking the GJ for a potential Grind, by observing its core pairs GBPUSD & USDJPY.

The GRIND to me is
where (and, in either direction buy OR sell) BOTH the GU & UJ are heading in the same chart direction (ie rising or falling on the chart), meaning when the UJ is rising the Yen weak, and the GU rising has Pound strong, meaning the GJ must 'grind high' and well past short term levels to a 'major' level some distance away.

We all trade well in the ranges (which anecdotally are 80-85% of the time) as we can follow direction and also do reversal trades when the range flips nicely.

While in in the stucture breakouts/breakaways on GJ and "the Grind" we can only (safely) be trading WITH the move until IT stops.

ie don't try & predict a reversal point of a grind, until the grind shows you it has weakened, stalled and is likely then to return 'towards' source.
At the END or towards the end of a full trading day ie NY Close many times this reversal does NOT happen that day - or sometimes even the next

GBPJPY has its delights as well as its dangers is all I am saying

Spot on, and yes, to this day I sometimes get in too early as well.

I used to think the entry was just wrong. However, later in the session the entry proved profitable.

So it was maybe Timing of the entry rather than a directional issue.
I concluded then that 'other' traders had also entered around the same point and in the same direction based on chart logic.
But who then is taking the opposite side of all our trades.
And IF those takers are stronger than us (ie the MM, LiqProv, big players etc) then the market will/must move in their direction until they are satisfied with, either their profit by closing or 'us' tapping out & closing our trades in loss.

Sometimes just waiting that extra one minute candle or two shows us reactions around the logical entry points. Then we can make our play.
All a bit of fun waiting also as we watch, even if we miss out on a profitable trade in the moment but may also miss a loser.
