My newbie question......... Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 years old on the cpi real quick? How do you know if it’s low or high? And what makes traders go Long or Short for USD? My newbie answer.............. Consumer Price Index. The number we get is an approx representation of % rise or fall in prices of consumer goods, i.e inflation. We always have an 'expected' number, if the actual one comes higher than that, inflation is high, it's bad and people short, and vice versa.
