On the whole you are right Ash. But snowman has a point. There is one very successful trader here who has helped others signifcantly. There was a thread about him recently. But there are others here who are successful to a lesser extent who have helped others. And that's what makes FF such a great place to be. None of us are ever to old to learn.

But the lack of truly successful traders here can be seen by such a low number of people committing themselves to a trading competition here. That in itself if evidence enough for me that Ash is, on balance, correct. Now everyone prove me wrong and register today. BTW - I won't be registering.
Finally I found someone to agree with me. I bet you that almost no one in in this forum will know how the cable will behave today. But if you ask an expert, he will tell you almost exactly how it's gonna behave.

a move north was bound to happen after dropping so far looks like 1.9950 could now be support for the bears will try a sell from here with short stop

the problem with almost anyone here is thinking that such experts really do exist!

professionals either scalp or swing, they do not daytrade...

stop thinking that there are guys who foresee the future, the experts or the professionals or whatever!

this retail forex model that appeared some years ago with the internet is intended to take the money away from all us, suckers who want to get rich overnight...

My gut feeling is if you are really bearish the dollar going into a low-balling GDP expectation, then shorting EUR/USD may be a better option, as EUR/GBP is looking toppish short term (ie cable is starting to show relative strengh).

I am sorry to disagree with you. Let me explain why: the market behaves according to sentiment; that is, if 70% of traders are long and 30% are short, then the market will move higher and vise versa. A huge bank, such as SAXO bank who has the biggest online trading platform, can tell you if the most of the traders are LONG or SHORT. If they notice that more than 50% are long, then the bank will go into the market with long position and vise versa. In this case, SAXO bank is considered to be an "expert" trader - but be aware that the bank will not give you free advice.

Do you really think that SaxoBank just checks a number and knows where the market is headed? geez

Buy limit 19 hours ago. Original here. 5 lots - 3 exited for 50 each within the last hour and the last 2 moved SL to lock in another 20 each. Back to 48 each open.

For me, that's the key to understand trend. Inflation trends. Retail sales trends, NFP trends. The sentiment trend with them. The currencies are the last one to trend with them.

That's why the recent moto that appeared here "trading fundamentals is trading the past" is not right. Market does not react to a single figure. It reacts to how the given figure trends. That's market sentiment.

depends if the traders are retail or large specs. check data from FXCM and COT (futures market), and you will see inverse positions taken.

Following the retail crowd (who lose 95% of the time), is not smart.

Sentiment is useless. For example when you are in a bull market, sentiment can be extreme for months or years and market doesn't turn

Surely, when everybody is already long we should worry because there is not so much ppl to fuel aditional longs

Yet you cannot calculate when will the market turn

You could short a market where 90% are long and get burned along the way, that has happened several times in this bull market in the stocks indices

Because in financial markets being right at the wrong time is the same as being wrong...

IMHO Even if u r a bearish supporter.. .9865 is still a good place for dip fishing..

Does not matter how many traders are long or short Im using a signal software that tells rougha voting system how much porcent voted long and short... and does not make any difference.

By the way I think we will have still some uptrend on gbp before keeps heading south and next week we will see the uptrend again this time above last high Im basing my expectations on daily and weekly chart but for now at least next hours I think we will reach 1.9985 before the results on USD
