Possibly, but that would put even more strain on public finances as UK Gilts that get rolled over will be at the newer higher rates. Then higher taxes to pay for it which means lower economic growth as the citizens will have much less spending power

The UK borrows and lends with debt. If these borrowed funds are supporting future lending and not future spending, the rise would make sense. It is curious especially since the US is supposedly pulling liquidity out of the market. This suggests that the UK is putting it back in or potentially planning to put it in?

Since the Frankfurt open, the USDX and GU appear to be behaving more typically. Probably missed the best entry point at this time. Looking for the next one!
