Even a forming one is history. A 1 hour candle is simply telling the aggregate of the last 60 1 minute, or 12 5 minute, or 4 15 minute candles. If a 1 hour candle is half formed, it's simply telling you what the previous 30 1 minute candles have done. Candles are a lagging indicator, as all they do is tell you what price has previously done.

Yes!!! A person who got me started in trading several years ago used to trade on the 'shop floor' ( I think he called it.). He told me that when he started, there were no candles and charts, he used to read the price from ticker tape. Real price action trading!!

eg below of using the 1min to get involved at a potential swing point on successively higher t./f's Price tested pot 1hr supp for 2nd time (ie held on 1st test) and 1min nice bull thrust close trigger for entry with the bullish osc div. 5min had potential bullish hidden div to support 1min entry. May not become a 30min + swing point (re last 1hr close) who knows? but a nice scalp+ nontheless.

Lol As you know, It is these previous fractal swing hi's and lo's that consistently offer the most supp or res or rbs or sbr....being areas of recent near-term imbalance of supply over demand -or- demand over supply, respectively. The rest (fibs, calculated pivots, and trend lines,) add the potential confluence at these, or can act as potential supp/res independently of these, (less so sbr/rbs,) but are historically less inclined to do so independently, unless there is a confluence of such.

Good example @ the current dly lo - it is in a prev 1hr sw lo zone (once tested and held) = prev supp = pot supp, confluence with 2 x fibs and the dly pivot.

of course they do, but an actual forming candle is the best we can do.

But they can be leading indicators as well as they tell you when there is buying interest or selling interest and potentially what strength/momentum that interest is, - yes over whatever immediate recent past time duration but as patterns repeat in TA they can be instructive as to near-term (+) future price discovery.
