UK CPI (YoY) – Wednesday, 06:00 GMT
UK's most important inflation data as it's used as the central bank's inflation target.
Consumer prices account for a majority of overall inflation.
This is important because rising prices lead the central bank to raise interest rates.
What happens to GBP when we put together
- a new chancellor
- whom Bailey likes, says they're on the same page
- UK stuff is marginal from this point in, although I guess Bailey et al will cause some damage being overly dovish again.
- unofficial inflation number blowing past 16% (last official was 9.9%)
In short, UK real inflation visually....

In my opinion only, bullish movement all week 1.16 minimum target {image}
Thanks Whale for the heads up....
However from my Newbie view we have....
1) UK CPI coming on Wed.
2) The 1922 Committee are meeting tomorrow for the first time since Parliament returned from recess.
(The Exec of the 1922 Committee -led by its officers
- can of course change the rules of leadership balloting and no confidence voting by a simple majority.)
3) Three Tory MPs have already publicly declared no confidence in the PM.
(Interesting, wonder if Liz will be out by the end of the week. Thoughts?)
4) Jeremy Hunt is De factor Prime Minister from today.
