Still technically bearish, a series of LL and LH on h4 discounting the high after the boxed area as the next 4 hour candle was a rapid rejection of that high, engulfing the previous lows too. For now price has failed to make another high. I believe we should see 1.0800 next, although could be wrong of course.

The day is not finished yet. FOMC gain is reversed, and the last hour before close can be brutal if NYSE decides to sell before tomorrow's CPI; note CPI is before NYSE open tomorrow. I do hope we get higher, but I wouldn't celebrate just yet if I were long.

Does anyone have an explanation for why the GU is up today? All the fundamentals that drove the price down are in place. The US$ is still on track for higher rates.The gilt note buy back could helping. suggesting higher rates but it doesn't help with underlying inflation which is hurting the economy.

You are correct. They have also been clear with respect to their goal of reducing inflation. There is nothing happening between now and the end of the year that suggests that inflation will be impacted. The Fed is supposed to be reducing the money supply but with the gov't running out of money, the fed money supply reduction will be meaningless. Prices will continue to rise. Energy costs are already going up but that is Saudi and Russia's fault.

Energy costs rising in the USA are the result of piss poor management of resources (US policy).

Same, I was looking at some chartshots the other day from when we began to peel away from the 1.42 area. Seems like a distant memory now. I wish I had held shorts!
