The US dollar index is still in a consolidation zone, but it is more likely to rise.
So GBPUSD is bearish today but should break 1.1100 for a downtrend.

If she breaks 1.1225 it will reach 1.1342 and 1.1445 ( we got o watch what NFP bring)

Generally above 1.14810 is an uptrend
Below 1.1020 is a downtrend

Why GBP/USD rally last night after until Tokyo ?

INTERVENTION

This is in coming with UK now.
The gilt saga continues........

The Bank of England managed to push 30-year yields back below 4% via its intervention.
But now yields are rising quickly again (4.32% today) and dragging the GBP with it (weaker)
Intervention is not so simple.

It emerged earlier today that as of then, far from the £5bn / day of long-dated maturities in the gilt market Boe said it would buy for 13days, (total £65bn,) so far in total only £3.7bn has been bought!

Just got to keep watching this as it develop.
When I see GBP rising ( by BOE Intervention), I wonder how they going to handle Gilt yield ?.

Intervention is indeed not so simple.
The BOE did not buy any bonds Tues or Wed.
And I note that the mkt no longer thinks a 150 bp hike at the next MPC meeting next month is the most likely scenario.
It seems to be 100-125 bp now.

but take 50 pips first and allow the rest to run to tp..

Thanks for joining this discussion, which I'm limited knowledge in it.

AS I was observing this intervention by BOE, if we compared to the US, UK it’s a small country.(really - no offence)

There’s no way official intervention can fight market expectations/pressures.
It’s like handing over future tax receipts to hedge fund managers.
