It is proper Wednesday to me.

Not a Friday when I lost phase 2.

Fridays... will avoid trading henceforth.

Actually the money supply has been increasing for at least the last 14 years since the GFC.

Interest rates alone will not stop inflation. Firstly they would have to raise the rates above the CPI. I don't know of a single government that could afford the interest payments in their debts with rates much higher than they currently are, let alone having them at 10%-15% that would be required, and we haven't even touched the principle.

They would also have jack up taxes to physically remove money from the economy, at the same time that peoples mortgages have gone through the roof leaving them with zero money. They would have to massively cut back on government spending including benefits at the very same time that unemployment will be going through roof and more and more people will be requiring those benefits which they paid their taxes towards in the first place.

Throw into the mix war with Russia requiring a massive increase in military spending as most European countries have spent decades cutting back on the Forces, as well as massive social unrest.

The Western world is a powder keg. I, for one, expect governments and central banks to break and allow inflation to win the fight.

I expect the same outcome, probably labeling some level of inflation as intrinsic or expected inflation as a way to save face for their stupid behavior.

Went to bed early hours this morning keeping an eye on Asian markets. Wasnt happy to trade but on turning in entered a long order just above S1 @ i.10639. Now have a smile on face, but for how long? 0.4 lots

I think the CBs do not need to increase rate to the same level as CPI. In economics, there was something called the multiplier effect, so increasing the rate by only 1/3rd to half of the inflation rate would be enough to tame the CPI.
More time in the market, does not mean you trade better!

You forgot that countries simply print money instead of raising taxes to pay debts. Money becomes a worthless commodity and exchange rates are meaningless.

Hopefully you keep smiling. I am waiting to short again. Anything from 0720 -40 I will go short for a dump towards 0500 and below.
