May be if BOE would hiked by 75bps, they would not have to face such dramatic problem today.

Just a speculation BoE might raise interest rates as much as 200bp or 2% via an emergency meeting.
Problem is in doing so they will further impact an economy which depends on endless cheap credit to survive and risk imploding financial system via derivatives markets in the process.

Do BoE and Treasury have enough FX pool to execute it ?

Certainly agree. I have locked in the trades and not trading at the moment with signs of intervention from BoE /100bps rate hike in November for GBP and also BOJ doing intervention on USDJPY at will above circa 145.60 they are not comfortable with it. (It will dent GBPJPY upmoves, capped at the moment). peace out! cheers.

They are facing a trade off between their currency external value and economy. But the subsequent effect would it be a depreciated pounds tho?
