I think it's all been said. I'll just add my own opinion on the matter - it'll increase my post count - lol. I said this in the thread I started. You go in for an interview and you're asked - where do you see yourself in 3-5 years? People get into trading to make money. Some (most?) think it's a "get rich quick" scheme. It takes people different timeframes to learn. Some persons may learn in a week while others need 2-3 years. Our brains work differently. Figure out what works for you. If you can't be honest with yourself - get help from a friend/relative...

{quote} Hey Pat I joined FF 1 year before you. This is my "3rd" time in the Forex Market as I tried from 2007 until 2009 and lost $ during those 2 years. Fast forward to 2014 - Class at Apiary Fund - 12 months of training - 3 years of work and $1000.00 to show for it. Fast forward to 2020 - Lockdown prevents me from running my business so I went back to trading - This time my account is 3X what I started with and I've switched trading styles drastically since 2007. So what's different NOW vs. my prior two 2) attempts at trading Forex? 1. Familiarity...

Many thanks Sir David (ever the Sage). You have given so much,.. clear out your barns as what you sow comes back thousand fold(at least). Just don't know when and from what direction. That is where Faith in the Humanity of the receivers comes in.

Keep enjoying you and your hugely humble spirit. In my experience these have only been dwarfed by your skills and generosity.

A conceptualizer and a developer(purposefully avoided "Executioner") combined in a single person (with little or no narcissisms), is rare and so when one such as you emerges, you have to have the faith of the Lord so as not to give so/too much, without being emptied. We pray your continued Health, wealth and the years to enjoy them all. Please save yourself some of yoU (for you and yours). Seems that is what you are currently about and that is fine. You have earned it.

Thanks again,
May you continue to have enough.

Bless!

can speak only for self lost much of my enthusiasm in jan 2015 when alpari uk went broke and entire account was fubar'd in a instant and i didn't even have any open positions lucky it was only a small account but to make worthwhile income must take same type of risk with larger account friend of mine wasnt so lucky lost 6 digits when halifax folded made me aware there are risks that trader has no control of mitigate this risk by ensuring broker keeps funds in segregated account with large reputable bank and use leverage to leave minimum amt in account...

True, and that’s very common scenario to the new traders! Actually, most of the traders try to make money here with an ordinary trading skill, as a result they face huge amount of losses!

Unfortunately, that’s a true fact! Traders trading attitude is mainly responsible, most of the traders starting their trading career without proper learning plan!

You should not give up on forex cause there is a way to make it..... there are so many EAS and systems you can try..... also there is money management, copy forex traders... there are many successful traders.... Also what happened to your grammar?

But till now it’s not an easy way of money making! Most of the trading EA’s and systems are useless, and manual trading is only one way!

Even Forrest gives up running at one point when he realise he cannot eliminate the problem. At the end of his run he said something like, “My momma always said that we got to put the past behind us before we can really move on. I think that was what my run was about.” He started running after Jenny left him. I guess he wanted to forget everything and move on. Come to a point when a trader quit ?. {image}

Simply when you stop enjoying it to be honest. When so few people make money then unless you enjoy the thrill of the hunt what's in it for you?

Going over a year without a profitable month would be a key indicator that you really should stop trading.

So this is blowing up your account 12 times in a row.

Whatever you start the month with, you end up losing it all, over and over and over again, month after month.

Dude, just stop.

This is probably a stage where many people have reached, and it’s a stage where many people have actually quit trading Forex. It’s very easy to get to that stage and to say, “look, I’ve tried everything, I’ve put all this time, this effort and this money into doing my best I can to try and learn how to trade, but it’s just not working for me”. I reached that stage after about two years and I kind of felt I was going around in circles which is something I’m sure you can relate to if you’ve been trading for a couple of years. So when I reached those...

Moin guys !

I think to be a successfull trader you need a hell lot of determination.

So when is the time to give up ? Never !

Now do not get me wrong, many peoples are never gonna make it even with the biggest determination ever, but this is the mindset needed in every great competition (trading being probably the most competitive business ever). It is a zero sum game.

If you are considering to quit after 2 years, well then I would say it is totally normal, no successfull trader on earth made it after just 2 years. But if you do quit, then trading was not for you...

The key is to play with tiny size until you build a real strategy/approach that works and is validated. Doesn’t matter if you blow some $50 or $100 accounts every month or few weeks for years figuring it out. Once you have a strategy to works, you size up and get serious.

the issue is when noobs load up all their money over and over when they have don’t have a working strategy. And the folks who do this and don’t learn to size down, are just gambling addicts.

So what makes it hard for traders to stick to forex trading anyway? They blew their trading account aka Margin Call. Forex trading is not what they expected. They’re discouraged by their losses. They can’t get back in the zone. Forex trading isn’t for them. To many times scammer took their money with empty promises Too many fake gurus and expert in Forex

I agree with your point but you can call them a fake guru. I experienced this period but without patience, you cannot achieve anything.

Yes, there have been quite a few moments where I almost gave up trading because it was no longer making sense to me, but frankly going back to that, I realized it was my mistake as I was not paying attention to the trading strategy that I created which was a bit outdated. That explained why it was no longer working in my trade. Sometimes you don’t have to give up completely - just try to find the solutions, you will never know!

Actually, the problem is- most of the new comers start their trading career with a wrong trading mindset! They expected the success so easily, but after a few years when they face the reality, they just leave the market!
