Similar case here from a few of years ago. To cut the long story short, I left the position over the weekend with a stop loss of about 30 pip. Sunday night the price opened with a massive spike down and my position was closed at a loss of more than 80 pip. I tried the same approach like you, but the answer was:
- We could only fill in your order at the first available opening price, closest to your stop loss order.
I lost around £700.00, then I tried to argue the case and I approached CFTC in UK - FSA. The answer was that the broker was in his right to do so and there was not much that they could do. The moral of the story is – do not leave an open position over the weekend…. Or, if you leave it, just put a symbolic stop of 100+ pips. Many people do not realize that the stops just don’t work over the weekend and the brokers do whatever they like with the opening spike to hunt your stop if it is tight enough… easy money for them.
Did you place your stop loss order? Why not?!? Story of my life...

Man respects for going through such a miserable broker experience and eapecially for that revenge trade hahaha.
You’re stealing money everyday and they think they will even out a bit with such downgraded movements…
Idk why but today I literally thought about such a thing happening at work and that if that happens I would probably do exactly that kind of revenge trade hahaha.
