... interesting discussion in the last couple of pages of the thread. I think it was the infamous Jesse Livermore that said that when you naturally fear you should hope, and when you naturally hope you should fear' when explaining that trading emotions should necessarily run counter-intuitive to natural human emotions. Put another way, when everyone else is selling it represents a cheaper buying opportunity and when everyone else is buying it represents a cheaper selling opportunity. Trading as I am sure we all know and have experienced is essentially 90% psychological. Ie once we have a proven edge (the easier bit,) and know all we need to know about it (what most miss,) then it is a case of learning to trade it so that we close what Mark Douglas called the 'profit gap,' ie the difference between having a theoretically profitable edge and actually making a profit from trading it, ie broadly speaking - keeping our emotions in check/under control.

I think one of the main overriding issues is that folk find it hard to accept uncertainty and believe they have to find it in their trading or else search for it as some kind of comfort blanket to wrap themselves in whilst they trade. It is futile, it doesn't exist in trading, nor in life itself, to a greater or lesser extent. Learn to accept that it is essentially, and in a nutshell, a game of probabilities that should be coupled with risk, money, and trade management, and the psychological side of trading gets a lot easier. Stop thinking or feeling what the market may do, because as we all know the market doesn't give a rats ass what we think/feel, and only have a bias when the market has a bias, ie when it is trending (on the t/f (s) of interest to you. Your gut feeling is not an edge unless you have large sample (s) recorded empirical evidence to prove that it does provide you with one, and, you've closed the 'profit gap' trading it. I'm willing to bet that no one here does/has.

CPI is a made up number grossly understimating price rise, yet you can't hide some rise

We should not take out of the picture implementation of negative interest rates.
Major banks been preparing for this scenario since last year.

I’d be surprised if we go there as inflation is quite high already. Negative rates will only push inflation higher as cost of goods is soaring at the moment.

negative rates would have been ideal to kick start the economy which it seems we don’t need. Of course the true impact of Brexit can and more than likely will have a footprint which should become more apparent next year at the earliest. Giving bozo the clown to stop blaming covid

Why do you think media started talking about rate change? Surprises never end.

UK furlough scheme has ended, companies reducing staff numbers but at the same time pay rates increasing as job market have employee shortages. Labour revalued what is imported in life, by making serious life decisions. A few rising points to mention -
Inflation,
fuel cost,
borrowing and debt.
Who can afford mortgage, credit card repayments in these conditions?
Also Uk out of Eu, will need to prove 'we can do' and follow Switzerland, Denmark, Japan as an example. All of the countries have lowest interest rates and succeeded.

A top flight analyst is free of bullish or bearish biases.

There is a trick to help you detect your bias.
If you want to buy, turn your chart upside down and see whether it looks like a sell.
If it still looks like a buy after you flip it, then you have to work on getting a bullish bias out of your system.
If both charts look like a sell, then you have to work on purging a bearish bias.
Ha ha ha.. The las part is just kidding. Please don't do it

thing is negative rates is a very left idea, can’t see bozo leaning on BoE for it. You are right though bottom line is we are out of EU and soon the pandemic excuses will go too. And then we will be up shits creek without a paddle. L
