I think so too, if anyone can make a strategy like this work then kudos to them. I don’t know the rules and I’m sure there are things that can be done to mitigate the loss like opening a new position but that would have to be resolved somehow.. also you’d need to open with a large position otherwise what’s the point, it’s only 2 pips, which makes the scenario even scarier. I’d rather stick with what I know.

Probably quite easy to backtest such a strategy

Let's see how it performs in 1992 and 2016

This is it in it's rawest form, the real work as you said when price shoots in one direction when this does happen, I just open another trade in that direction tp 2 pips so on and so on, trades never end, just keep taking tp's but your profit/loss will always be underwater but as long as your equity is rising its's not a problem needs getting use to. t/p is not set at 2 pips but good to start to see how it all works, money management need attention I use big bank small lots to lessen the fear (each to their own on that one), please please try this only using demo

Long at 1.3618 till 1.3714...

I expect the bear pressure to ease off between 1.3580/1.3610 area, then 150 - 200 pips bounce to 1.3810 area before further crash to 1.3450 Zone in weeks ahead.

Nicely done. Im glad that worked out well for you. I typically look for strong directional candles with high volume, the highest for the session preferably, with less volume on the retest. In this case it was the overlap of sessions so hard to judge, but a low volume breakout candle is a classic trap move. The retest was higher volume which left me sitting on hands but managed to get in short.

Thanks for the explanation, it does make a lot of sense to me - in the right kind of environment - maybe after a long trend has exhausted and clear pivot points can be marked defining a range, maybe using ATR as well. Even so I wouldn’t advocate it to a beginner, trend following strategies is the way to go I think - but respect to you for making it work. It always amazes me how many ways there are to trade and perceive opportunities.

The test is fun on demo account. But we're playing with uncertainty where it can reverse any second. With a live account applying this kind of fun would be scary..

About current downtrend - I am not trading until any bias is above the liquid.
