Hi Vincent,
Thanks so much for making it so clear and I could not have explained it better. Indicators alert me to a possible situation. This particularly helps to identify possible situations when I have multiple charts open. You are correct, I don't trade based solely on what the indicators tell me. When a signal is given I pay particular attention to price action, bearish candle closes on the higher time frames, rejection off round numbers, and support/ resistance zones. Recently Shahab8 opened my eyes to Fib retracement confluences and I am eternally thankful to him for that. I have not read books on particular indicators but just through years and years of studying them and their behavior around turning points and tweaking them as I went along. They give me confidence in staying in my trades longer because of the time span they hold in their direction. Anyway, I don't want to make it a long-winded explanation. I am sure newbie traders can take away something from our little discussion.
