You are wrong about that. I have seen demo traders get extremely emotional. Seems odd at first thought to get all excited about losing or winning some huge amount of fake money. But if you consider other things that seem odd, or even irrational, to get emotional about, such as video games, various games such as basketball, football, soccer, a new car that got a tiny scratch on it, etc., then you can realize that emotions can be triggered by a variety of things and circumstances that vary widely from person to person.

As I have stated before, if a person cannot get his emotional state under control with a demo account, how will he be able to keep it under control when real money is involved?

In fact, it has also been reported that many people with good emotional control trading a fixed percentage of their account using 0.01 lots in a small account lose control when they try to trade 1 lot in a large account. This is often from looking at the relatively large number of dollars that are shown in floating drawdown in the large account scenario vs the rather few dollars for the same risk % in the small account.

never mind..I wasn't even talking to you in the first place...just your friends getting excited over a demo account doesn't mean the lot of us feel the same

Why traders get emotional if we ask it, we all probably have few answer.
I strongly believe we can become emotional even we end the day with profit, even we win most of our trade.

If we can't accept ourselves as we are we will get emotional.

For example Last week I end the day with nice profit, But at last 2 trade of the day makes me emotional, I don't even realized it. I realized it Next day. I got very nice Market conditions, I executed 6 trade all of those Hit STOP.
When I review all of my trade, I realized I lost not because market condition was not good enough, Because I was not trusting the process, I move TF to TF, I executed trade at wrong time. Market move in my directions but I lose trade. Some one told, You could be right about the directions wrong about the trade, It is absolutely true.

Once we started to understand ourself better, according to self understanding, if we develop trading system and trading plan we will improve trading a lot. If we are not comfortable opening 1 lot trade with 10k account we should not open 1 lot trade. we have to find the alternative for that.
That is why following other people system and other people plan will not works until we understand it and realized every In and Out of it.
Every trader has their own weakness if we recognized those weakness and work on those weakness we could improve, some weakness we can't improve immediately so we have to find the alternative ways to over come it or minimize it.

that's so very true, we will grumble even when we win because we left pips on the table for others , we will only be "satisfied" when we lose the lot..these are the emotions trading a real account and not something you can learn from demo..I reckon Tekkies would be able to relate to that, after all if I'm not mistaken he spent several years on a demo and when it comes to real trading his emotion got the better of him

New here. This is my first post on FF. I stumbled upon this thread and I've been getting to like page 100 and i'm amazed by the useful info in here. Just wanted to thank everyone for their time invested in this, it's awesome!


Can I please get a feedback on my first trade using this? It went OK but I wonder if I've missed anything that should have stopped me from entering. (I guess a flaw would be the heavy downtrend?)

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A TRADING EDGE/STRATEGY
Trading in the FOREX, Metals or CFD’s markets is not gambling. Some people might think it is, some people even treat it as if it is. But it is not. There is a plethora of strategies out there that hold an edge over 50% in trading. Generally, the reason that those strategies do not hold up the tests of time are the user and not the strategy.
If you execute your strategy perfectly 100% of the time and you hold an edge over 50% you should come out of the market in profit. Obviously, that’s easy to say, there are hundreds of external factors that can affect a trader’s ability to execute their strategy effectively.
However, not having an edge or strategy turns trading into gambling.
Find a strategy that fits your trading personality.
It is most important you have a strategy when you are going to trade professionally. But long term its even more important that you find a strategy that makes you feel comfortable and confident with. Some people are built to be in the market regularly and some people are built to be in the market rarely. Either way, it is important to have some strategy and to execute that strategy accurately so that the results can come. As you should keep track of your trading strategy via your trading journal. Hopefully, that increases the probability of you following the strategy itself.
TEST, TEST AND TEST AGAIN…. ALWAYS BE TESTING
Even when you have found the strategy that fits your personality and are comfortable and confident with it, it is important to maintain testing to improve your trading. Markets can change and you must adapt with the markets. By testing during periods when you are not in the market, you increase your chances of identify changes in the market and improving the strategy that you are already comfortable with. Range based strategies are not the same as trend-based strategies, however both can work in each’s respective market types if there has been enough testing done.
Always work on your craft and look to improve performance moving forward.
DO NOT STRATEGY FLIP
No one can win all the time. Sometimes losing streaks happen. If a strategy is going to fail, it should fail because the strategy failed not because you failed to execute it. Give your strategy time to work out, obey its rules and maintain it. If it does truly fail, then you know its no good. However, if you change strategy quickly just because of a few losses then you will never really know whether it was the strategy that failed and are likely to repeat the same mistake again.

Consistency of strategy will give you peace of mind as to what caused the result. Stay on course with your strategy and allow it to speak for itself.
Stay calm, stay consistent, be healthy and be happy.

Very good trade . I see price action entry.
You know Craig Harris' NFF reversal candle this would get you into the market before TMS 5-Method reversal.

When you blend Craig Harris NFF and Big E' 5-Method, sometimes one will give you an early entry. Other times you get a double entry confirmation.

If you use Big E' TDI in Post#25, you will see the TDI RSI green price line bounce with quite steep slope. This confirms the NFF reversal setup.
