{quote} I’m not sure what your idea is in terms of how many pips it takes to move especially a highly trades asset such as eur/usd, but you need understand that it takes billions to move it even just a 100 pips. We retail traders have no effect of price end of damn story even during low trading activity. A “group of retail traders can move the market” that is the most wrong statement I’ve seen here so far on FF and I hope people don’t seriously believe this. I agree with you when you say the market makers do move liquidity into the market that is...

Hi Kareem

If 8% of the days Volume moved together at the same time, yes a group of traders would move the market. Of course, you couldn't get thousands of traders to act at the same time.
The market is just a Auction so once all nearby Buys or Sells are Exhausted - price moves.
Looking at that spike on Friday on EURUSD, it took only about 3% of the daily Volume to turn the market and send it into a Bearish trend.

Cheers

{quote} The correlation between USDJPY and the stock market has broken down since COVID, risk-off selling makes USDJPY go up, not down. The reason why the demand for USD goes up is that stock market selling is mostly hedged, and US treasuries are the global safe haven. In a real risk-off, all money goes to the Dollar, not the Yen. Even CHF is better for safe havens than Yen today given the reflationary story.

Hi FXsniper

Big players can effect us the moment we enter a trade - its just our style to get in and out fast while the Buy or Sell delta is about to flip our way, or is moving our way.
They say there is many ways to skin a cat, trading is no different.

If we study Volume and trust what it tells us, we could make the same profits by staying longer. I kept referring to EURUSD on Friday where that massive one minute candle should have kept us in a Sell trade till close of market at the end of the day.
BWilliams is probably just sick of spending hours and hours in front of a chart so just looks for a prefect entry on a longer time frame.

Cheers

Lekkim, no need to open a live test on anyone's behalf, for testing purposes we can all work together, post the cross that throws the signal and we'll examine, we're in it with you, the time period may become a pain, midnight here in the UK but we're working around the clock, so you cannot sleepD
I don't need to be good at the game, only good enough to beat my opponent,

{quote} The fundamental problem with volume is the volume from mt4 platform that retail traders work with is tick data from the broker which is mostly filtered meaning "dirty" tick data. This tick data which retail brokers label as volume is not the actual volume of transactions transacted in the interbank market. It may carry the same name of volume but they both don't mean the same thing. So any attempt to pass off this tick data as volume of transactions is wrong.
Ignored
Here is an example between the paid volume data I get and Tick volume on MT4.
I cannot say if any data we get is accurate, but we need to trust data we work with and the MT4 tick data is useless in my opinion.

The blue line in the top chart is what I consider average volume, I will look to take trades when I see spikes in volume that match price expansion, either with or against the direction. That large white spike was high of day.

Rick, although the tick volume data looks quite different , the spikes seem to be still telling pretty much the same story.

There were some nice index and strength indicators on fxcm's marketscope.
Then they decided to close my account since I'm a EU resident. It was a good explationary tool as well.
I switched to other software, but I would still recommend those if u have an account and it hasn't been shut down for non-eu users as well
