You can add the MT4 ATR to your chart.

Just drag the ATR from your Navigator ..Indicators/Oscillators/Average True Range to the sub-window where your sm TMMS Oscillator is

then set the parameters as follows,

this will show only on your D1 chart and its the ATR(100)

first you need to decide which timeframe and duration of your trading system, then decide what you use the ATR for.

here is a website for some reading up and learn about the ATR.

For example:

I use ATR(52) on Weekly chart to know the average range of the 52 weeks.

On my Daily, I use ATR(100) which the average of 100-days, rather conservative and I use that to determine the distance between each multiple entries.

And for Initial Stop Loss, I look at the price action the technical swing high and swing low for placing my initial stop loss and double check that against 2 x ATR(10) most recent ten (10) days to see if the technical swing high / swing low it is 'safe' and has enough room for positions building.

Quite a few things to knows and put into trading practice and not to use any indicator blindly without knowing what it was programmed to do.

That ATR-Stop posted by 40PipsAlan can also be use to look for the volatility 'trigger' level to initiate the swing trades.

I trade on daily charts. See example 2 below image I have calculated ATR set SL right? I watch the price movement of ATR10 and ATR100 and the volatility at ATR10 is lower than the ATR100 so I will set the SL at ATR 100. Do I understand correctly?

If I open sell today, this is what my initial SL would be , see chart below.

Technically, I would rather place my initial SL above the Daily most recent Swing High. But when I am a Position Trader, I would even consider the Weekly Range High.

Use the 0.5ADR of the Daily ATR(100), how many positions can you build between initial Entry Price and your Stop Loss to a full basket?

Hi Emmanuel

I am trying to figure out how many positions should be built between the initial entry price and the hole cutting, currently I only participate in 2 positions.
f you join multiple positions in a basket, you will set your stop loss on the weekly chart, if you enter a position you will put your stop loss on the daily chart. Did I understand correctly?

NZDCAD is in one of my 5 groups.

Today I just initiated an new trade basket.

see my trade chart below.
Note: I don't use the smTMMS Osc but I place that on this chart just to have the same chart template like yours. I use the platform common indicators becasue I monitor my trades with my Android mobile.

- I manage my trade basket using the Average Entry Price of the basket i.e. the open positions.
- for this NZDCAD basket, the distance between each trade is 20pips , I simple use a round number if I divide the ATR(100) by 5.
- my limit and stop order above/below the initial EP is 20 pips.

I check these trades once a day minimum or every time I have access to the trade server VPS, usually when European sessions are open.
I'll take the profits whenever I see there is money on the table ... its a casino!

I forgot to mention this. Be careful of the Daily Tuesday and Wednesday D1 candles, these are big candles and you may see retracement into Oct 06 and Oct 07... can happen any time maybe this week or the coming week. Remember the WCC !

I have a question about closing your open position. You open 3 positions 20 pips apart and you will close when it makes a profit, what is your expected profit in 1 position? Do you leave 1 positions until it reaches R: R? If the market slips in the opposite direction, do you close all the positions early or let it run to the initial stop?

Hi, sorry for my English. I experimented with these settings to emulate the indicator on smartphones. The parabolic sar is used to place stop loss. I've done some comparisons and it seems to be very close to the original pc version. Let me know if you like it, greetings to all

when you have 3 open positions in one basket and all 3 positions are in profit, you can close that basket.
then you decide to start a new basket if the trade setup is still valid i.e. no trade invalidation.

I do not track the profit and R:R of single position. I keep track of the baskets profits (CashFlow) and the overall R:R of the completed swing.

If you face the situation where the market fails to continue in the direction of the swing, technically you will see the APB/HA candle getting smaller and not making higher highs or lower lows, and also the APB/HA candle are within the HMA and 5EMA,
then come that important decision ... if you have open baskets of trades, then you decide to close them.

An example, I closed a basket and re-open a new basket today.
And if the APB/HA fail to make higher high and the candle get smaller and close inside the HMA/5EMA, I will close the basket.

USDCAD Daily chart swing trading,

I closed the last basket and re-open a new one today.

Daily ATR(10) is 64 pips, my SL is 2xATR(10)
Order distance is 20% of ADR100 days i.e. ATR(100) Daily

I am also looking for a similar model on my phone but I can't find the HMA line. What does the sample look like on your phone, can you share it with me?

you need to do a lot of live trades to get a very good feel how this will work and you will develop your own mental strategies to deal with all the possible scenarios.
take your time, 2 to 3 years would be a good length of time to develop your own trading style and trading systems.

you wont find the HMA in your mobile platform and also not the APB and HA candle. You need to be able to use the price bar or Japanese candlesticks.

without the HMA(12) you can use the good old fashion way of TMS ... use a 5-period , MA method = Linear Weighted MA, Apply to: Median Price (HL/2)

BTW, today is Canadian Employment Data so careful with CAD pairs, close those in profit and decide if you want to open new baskets.

Trade Report Week 41 Oct 05 to 09

Closed most pairs that were in profit just before London market session closed.

Kept some basket/position with open positions to rollover to next week Oct 12 to 16.

This is completion of the first 6 trading days of a new 20-trading days cycle which will run till Oct 29.
