...back at desk updating supp/res charts.....76.4% extension of yesterday's pip range exceeded now - won't bore you with the stats % chance on that occurrence,...and y/day even though U.K bank hol was still a 94 pip range. 3515 prev dly/wkly/mthly actual sw hi moves in to view as does mthly desc t/line that joins 2.1162 with 1.7188. Mthly R1 @/around 3513. Well into that zone now. 110% of 30 day adr at the hi.

Hello guys,

I think the fundamental outlook for GBPUSD is good for today.

But what will happen when the ISM Manufacturing PMI news is released?

How will it affect the USD or GBPUSD pair?

The news for GBP today are all low impact news while one (ISM Manufacturing PMI) is a high impact news for USD.

Please share your views.

News is dead meat. When released it shake up the market for a while and continue its objective for the day. See what happened last week Thursday.

Exactly my point.. it means nothing to me.. I wonder why people still disturb themselves about it.. Only thing i pay attention to is election impacts or similar ..

I took a short at 1.3472, stop 110 pips, tf open.

Reasoning: we have probably reached a resistance / take-profit zone, still think 1.35 will be hit, but don't want to miss a drop when it comes. The drop may be a modest one (40-50 pips) or a much bigger impulse. Stop is based on my risk tolerance; it is wide enough not to be hit today and allow me to reassess if things do not go according to plan.

I think Usdix can do a bit more low
But i agree the down or correction move in (D) is close, but its the market we can't predict that in a pandemic..my point of view

I agree, but would add that this goes for the expected news (probably 90% of the news releases): smart money guys know what is coming beforehand and position themselves accordingly. Unexpected news (or ones where outcome was not certain, e.g. elections) can move the market.

Also, particularly for GU, some reaction to news is sort of postponed. For instance, we saw some negative UK news over the weekend (Brexit no deal, higher taxes), but GU pairs hardly reflected them. But it does not mean that markets did not notice; they would just first reach their technical targets, and _then_ reflect the news.

... it would be remiss not to at least look at what is above this prev sw hi to 3514, (even though there are some for whom this will be irrelevant - for they alone can see into the future ! They know what will happen and what should damm well happen !) I am not one of those and have to rely purely on analysis. 3618-3712 are the last 5 x fibs of the major swings down from and including Dec'07's 2.1160 hi to this years current 1.1411 lo, until above 4100. The monthly desc t/line joining said 2.1160 with 7188 sw hi comes through on this week's candle @/around 3545-55 and is confluential with a weekly asc channel top. Above here and 2 prev sw lo's (= prev supp = pot sbr) on at least the weekly t/f exist as shown by the dark green then dark blue areas above the 3514 prev sw hi on the weekly chart below.
