Today marks the end of another month of forward testing and the completion of some weekly and daily sets testing. I think I have found a successful weekly set and a successful daily set which I will put through some more forward testing to try out some different MM approaches.

Attached is the pip count log I was keeping on the tests and as you can see the daily set was extremely profitable over the last 8 months of testing. Its very promising.

I'll also be uploading a new version of the EA this weekend that has quite a few changes.

Have a great weekend FF.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!

Please replace V1.81 for this new version 1.9!

Ok there have been a few changes with this new version so please take note!!!

1. Added a virtual memory function for the VB so now if you accidentally close a chart or restart the terminal with an active VB the EA will remember the vProfit and pip count.
2. Finally fixed the vProfit bug so now it refreshes correctly and displays the correct pip count that matches with the total VB profit.
3. Based on months of forward testing I have also updated some of the default parameters. If you use your own presets then it is less important. See below.

Besides the addition of the virtual memory function for the VB the most notable changes is the default time of open. Previously the default time had been 03:00, and in my manual trading prior to having an EA this was the time which I used more or less, but with using the EA and being able to forward test multiple open times, the 03:00 basket had not actually been very profitable over the long term and another open time had 'stood out from the pack', and this is 23:00 on a Monday before the daily close. So now instead of waiting for 3 hours after the daily close of the Monday candle we are waiting till the last hour of the first daily candle and then trading in that direction. Over the last 7 months of testing it has been the most profitable and consistent weekly basket as can be seen from my previous post #861.

Future ideas:

I am contemplating adding a MA filter so we would only add pairs that passed the MA filter, for example only buys above the 100 EMA and only sells below the 100 EMA. I'm still deciding how best to apply this filter as we dealing with a basket of multiple pairs and I will work on it in the coming weeks. I do think that having an MA filter can help to filter our those pairs that are moving against the main underlying trend. I'll keep you guys updated on this new development.

As always if you guys noticed anything weird or picked up any bugs please give your feedback.

The daily forward testing is still ongoing, but feel free to test and experiment daily tests yourself and see what results you have.

You can run the EA on default settings if you like, only adjust the MM to your preference.

You only need to load the EA on one chart, but make sure the pairs on the list in the EA settings are also visible in your market watch so the EA can see them.

No trading this week, the new weekly basket sets did not trigger their VB.

The daily sets however hit their daily targets both yesterday and today, which is a good sign of things to come I think.

Hello mrdfx, firstly many thanks for the update and the good news that the EA is working as it is supposed to do!
I admire your patience and your constant efforts to improve the EA on and on. Although I could not find any consistent starttime for the daily trading I believe it has still much potential. An additional MA filter, perhaps in combinaion with the daily pivot, would surely help.

I'm testing the following daily settings: M15,M30,H1,H4, VB 10 pips (only postive), current candles, different start times. Any hints by you?

Thanks, jdva

Hello jdva, thanks for testing, I look forward to your results.

You are on the right track for the daily sets. If you testing daily then maybe try include the D1 time frame as well?

For the daily sets its very important to test various open times as the market changes throughout the day during the different trade sessions so its good to experiment and see which one works well, this is what I'm doing.

It's also important to try different kinds of MM as I have found that also plays an important role in the results we can have.

Yep...tough FED week on the daily settings too. I could not make any progress. more losses than wins.

I'm not quite sure how to use the VB, sometimes it seems that a negative trigger value would allow to catch a pullback in a trend!? Maybe mrdfx can explain if one is able to enter a negative value at all and whether the EA is working so.

Happy trading, jdva

Thanks blam, and the 1:00 did it not trigger this week?

My weekly sets did not trigger so no trading again this week, I guess its a sign to stay out the market.

Hi jdva this post explains about the VB:

https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/...0#post12912330

As the VB is currently designed there is no option for a negative trigger, it only looks for positive trades to trigger an upper movement.

Thanks for info, mrdfx!

Do you possibly plan to implement such a negative VB trigger feature? I think it would help a lot to get better entries on trends.

Not at this time as I don't see how having a negative trigger VB will benefit the strategy, this means you are trading against the trend.
