Just academic interest.

You and me are placed in a hightech company, assume this way.

World war or erupts, we are asked to go on un paid leave until further notice.

we loose our jobs.

So job is gambling too ?

Or assume we two make a small start up.

Political party changes after our start up. Rules changes too. whatever benefit we were expecting to get from Government for start up does not come through.

We loose our small capital. Invested already.

Gambling ?

To me no. We take a calculated risk and assign the risk to limit the risk.

There is nothing in this world without risk. One should be able to mitigate the risk that is all my opinion.

Depends on who you trade with, market makers(as long as their ethical) should respect your stop loss but they also have a guaranteed stop loss you pay for, so even they can't guarantee your normal stop loss.
In my noobie days of trading I thought I was doing everything right only to lose money due to spread expansion on news release. Just one of the lessons you have to learn....

what I meant to say is... everything or most of it is uncertain Income. So as long as risk is mitigated, one can not call it gambling.

I want to call trading is risky job but not gambling as long as you limit the risk.

mate..
let made it an easy thinking..
we all have different methods,system and indicator
so from that surely will get different trading style..
some used stop loss,some don’t used stop loss and others sometimes used or not used..
so this kind of story/topics better aviod
just wasted time..
till next 10/20 years will not finish just argue about using stop loss or not..
how about thinks Gu fly FLY or DUMP later
that will be better and wise..
