Helllo when you said locked 5...does that translate that when you open a trade...you close it after 5 pips...or move your stop loss...

Locking in means that you will never lose that +5, no matter what the trade goes on to do. It's in the bank.

Thank, setting stops and managing a trade is a personal choice. How I managed a trade has varied quite a bit over time, the stops have stayed the same. On a short trade 5 pips above the high on a long 3 pips below the low.

My initial target is the +5, when I say locked that means I altered the trade and secured at least some profit. Mostly I would take a certain percentage off and either leave the stop in place or move to BE. If the trade progresses I will go to a trailing stop usually.

Lately and on this particular trade at +5 I simply moved stop to BE +1 and took nothing off. Often these will get stopped out quickly but in this instance it took off and the benefit was I got the full run with the full trade which is nice. And on this trade I ended up +71 when if finally stopped out, not sure how big a trailer I had on at the time.

+5 locked means I either took a percentage off and may or may not move the stop or I might take nothing off and move stop to BE +1. Like everything there are advantages and disadvantages to each maneuver.
