The charts tell the story not the news peddlers which is most often an historical (or hysterical) account of what happened.

Currency fluctuations are a tug of war contest between profiteers. If one side is weak then the stronger side wins. If we, as traders, recognize where the weaknesses are then we can get with the strength and prevail. By paying attention to the charts where the reality is you can avoid the speculation of the news entirely. However such a lot of traders await news releases before committing their money causing the spreads to widen as a response to volume.

Clearly we can see on the chart below that weakness is met by the strength of the opposition.

Applying a reasonable duration EMA we can easily see which side is weak and which side is strong. By making the duration of the EMA longer then we make it so much harder on ourselves to spot the weaknesses in a timely manner because the longer the duration the smoother they become.

When a side finds support it will in most cases test the oppositions support, remember this is a test and it may fail because it is weak.

Once we have the weaknesses identified we can then see from our indicator (RSI) where the opportunities to get with the strength are. Drop down to a lower time frame chart to get a better entry and most often we are in the money quite quickly.

these days i have noticed rightly or not that the notion of ideas and why moves happen seems less relevant than noticing that larger moves appear on a regular basis perhaps machine algo driven and othertimes taking the range as i call it means large monies for powerfull players .. just my 2 cents of course .. and no i dont do trend lines either lol
